UFC FIGHT NIGHT: LEWIS VS. SPIVAC

This weekend, a main event that was supposed to take place last year will now be happening in Las Vegas at the UFC APEX. On Saturday, Derrick Lewis will meet another top 15 heavyweight, Sergey Spivak, in the octagon.

With this being one of the first events on the 2023 UFC schedule, the fans are starting to get back into things as events will start picking up and running almost every weekend. The interesting thing about this card is that it was supposed to be held in South Korea. All the Asian prospects and talent will be fighting in the APEX now since those plans fell through.

Lewis is going to make his 26th appearance in the UFC octagon. The only heavyweights to have more appearances are Frank Mir (27) and Andre Arlovski (39). Lewis is also the UFC KO leader, with 13 inside the octagon.

With the next UFC event being Lewis vs. Spivak, there aren’t many title implications we will see this weekend. But, there will be the final rounds of “Road to the UFC,” a series Dana White started when the UFC traveled to Singapore last year. There will be lots of young talent on display on the undercard.

The outcome of this main event will determine the next UFC fight for both men involved. If Lewis wins, he will stay high in the rankings and try to work his way back up to a title shot before his career is over. If Spivak wins, Lewis acts like a gatekeeper into the top 10 of a very dangerous division.

How to Bet on This Card?

When making UFC picks, please do the proper research in the fight’s lead-up. Take your time looking through statistics, find trends, and follow the news during fight week. Even little things like watching media day interviews might give you a gambling edge over the sportsbooks.

Derrick Lewis, the higher-ranked fighter, is a +200 underdog going into this main event bout. Spivak is the betting favorite at -235 over the KO king. These UFC odds aren’t surprising, given the outcomes of recent Lewis bouts.

Spivak is going to be a tough test for Lewis. He is an elite wrestler who likes to get inside onto body locks and then either hip-toss his opponents or use one of his many trips to get the fight down to the ground. From there, Spivak likes to chase a head-and-arm choke or finish the fight by ground and pound.

Make sure you watch past fights of both fighters you want to bet on so you can start to bury yourself in the sport and have a better knowledge base to make Lewis vs Spivak bets. If you are going to put your hard-earned money on the line, you have to do the extra work to make sure you can make educated picks, even though UFC predictions are arguably the toughest to make in sports.

The prop bets to check out is Lewis winning inside the distance at +225. This is a great value because it seems that the only way Lewis will win a 5-round fight is if he knocks someone out. Another prop to look for is Spivak winning by submission at +300. I can see him taking this to the ground and grinding away on Lewis until he gives up his back.

One fight on the preliminary card to look at is the opening bout. A young prospect named Tatsuro Taira is one of the most talented kids on the roster and is a massive favorite in his matchup. There is a lot of value in him winning via submission or TKO.

We all know that Lewis vs. Spivak is the main event and will draw the most eyes in America, but don’t be afraid to check out some of the potential upcoming talents on the prelims. You might find a fighter that looks really good, and you can make money on them in the future.

UFC picks are always challenging to make because the sport of MMA is unpredictable due to all the factors that go into it on any given night. To make a proper UFC prediction, please do the research needed and take your time to find the best odds and picks possible.
