UFC 280: Oliveira vs Makhachev

UFC 280 brings another one to add to the list of UFC events in the beautiful island of Abu Dhabi. This event will be historic with some of the best fights of 2022. Headlining this card of great fights is a lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira (33-8) and Islam Makhachev (22-1). With the lightweight title being vacant, the winner of this will become king of arguably the best division in the UFC.

Along with that main event, there will also be a bantamweight title fight between Aljamain Sterling and TJ Dillashaw. And then, just to make this the best card on the UFC schedule, they added a fan-favorite fight between bantamweight superstars Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan.

With this stacked Abu Dhabi card on the UFC schedule, fight fans all around the world get to enjoy a number of star-studded, high-level MMA bouts. Islam Makhachev is coached by his family member and former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. Charles Oliveira has been dominant during his run at the title, and a lot of media members and fans would love to see him take on Khabib.

This fight with Makhachev will be the closest thing Oliveira gets to Khabib, unless he wins and calls him to come out of retirement to avenge his family’s loss. The implications of this fight are massive, and there is already a lot of verbal sparring going on from both camps. Makhachev and his team are supremely confident that they will finish Oliveira, a guy that has looked unbeatable in his last 5 fights against the best in the world.

How to bet on this card?

Charles Oliveira is surprisingly the underdog at +135. He is on one of the most dominant stretches we have seen in the UFC, but the Dagestani star is held with high praise from oddsmakers, and UFC odds have him at the -155 betting favorite.

According to UFC fight stats, Oliveira has the most submission victories of all-time and still isn’t the favorite against a heavy wrestler. The beauty about this matchup is that both guys are elite on the ground and in the striking game. It will be a treat to watch and bet on.

Prop bets that have the fight going the distance are all set at around +250. This means we can expect this fight to be a finish, especially with both fighters predicting to finish the other.
