UFC 283: TEIXEIRA VS. HILL

In the first PPV event on the 2023 UFC schedule, Rio De Janeiro will be hosting UFC 283 on Saturday, January 21. In the headlining bout, the vacant UFC light heavyweight title will be up for grabs as Glover Teixeira (33-8) tries to reclaim the title against new challenger Jamahal Hill (11-1).

This event is stacked with great matchups from top to bottom. The next UFC fight to keep an eye on this weekend is the co-main event bout for the undisputed UFC flyweight title. Deiveson Figueiredo (21-2-1) and Brandon Moreno (20-6-2) will meet each other for the fourth time inside the octagon to settle their rivalry. 

Other notable matchups include top 10 welterweights Gilbert Burns and Neil Magny, exciting light heavyweights Paul Craig and Johnny Walker, and even a retirement fight for the MMA legend Mauricio Rua.

This will be the first UFC event in Brazil since the pandemic started in early 2020. This country has a long history of great martial artists that perform at the highest level, so it’s always unique for them to enjoy an event live and in person. 

This will be a great night for any MMA fan to get back into the sport early in 2023. Two title fights, MMA legends, and young upcoming stars will be fighting on the biggest stage in fighting for the world to see.

How to bet on this card?

The main event bout has interesting betting lines available. The 43-year-old Brazilian former champion is the +115 betting underdog in this one. Hill, a 31-year-old with less than half the fights Teixeira fights, will be the -135 favorite. 

The other massive title fight is the 4th installment of Figueiredo vs. Moreno. These lines have been changing a lot through the lead-up to this weekend, but Figueiredo is the slight underdog at +100. The series is currently split 1-1-1 for both men. 

Prop bets to check out are the over 2.5 rounds for the primary event fight, along with either fighter winning inside the distance. Teixeira and Hill can finish the other within 25 minutes, and it is a good bet to make. That can give your bet more value than the regular moneyline. 

In the co-main event, a prop bet to look at is either of them winning inside the distance. There is a strong feeling that the only way this rivalry can get settled is with a finish.
