UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Spivac

UFC Fight Night returns to the APEX on Saturday, November 19, with two heavyweights headlining the main card. There isn’t anything better than two of the baddest men on the UFC schedule with a card being built around them.

Former title challenger Derrick Lewis (26-10) meets Sergey Spivak (15-3) in a top 10 matchup to decide who gets to break into the division’s top contenders. Lewis is coming off back-to-back losses where he has been finished. Spivac is riding momentum from two TKO finishes already in 2022.

UFC events seem to gain extra hype when fan-favorite Derrick Lewis is on the card. He is beloved by just about everybody because of his great sense of humor and incredible, record-breaking knockout power.

Lewis has the record for knockouts in the promotion with 13 total, according to UFC fight stats. Spivac only has 20% of the knockouts, but he also threatens with a lot of submissions. This is a new and interesting test for both men while they are in two completely different positions of their careers.

UFC odds have Spivac as the betting favorite in this bout, with -185 opening odds over the underdog Derrick Lewis (+160). These are two very large and explosive athletes meeting in a cage to try to separate each other from consciousness. We know both guys will put on a show for MMA fans everywhere.

When betting on UFC next events like this one, it is important to break down the styles of both fighters and what they can bring into the octagon to come out on top. Lewis is 37 years old and coming off of two knockout losses. There is a big question mark on how he shows up in this fight. Spivac seems to be the fresher and hungrier fighter at this point in time.

The moneyline has pretty good value for both fighters. Lewis has the power that makes him one punch away from finishing a fight, and Spivac has more avenues to win a 5-round main event bout.

How to bet:

Cory Sandhagen is the betting favorite, with odds at -190. This is some pretty good value for a fighter of his caliber going up against someone with not nearly enough experience to beat him easily in the octagon.

The under 4.5 rounds at +140 is a very highly valued bet to keep your eyes on. Sandhagen is one of the slickest strikers in the UFC, and he is coming off two decision losses with clear regret in letting fights go to the judges. Look for Sandhagen to push the pace and to try to put Yadong away before the scorecards can get involved.
