The Genesis Scottish Open is back this week as players tune-up before next week’s Open Championship. For the fifth year in a row, the best golf players will tee it up at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. The golf event was established in 1972 and was played at various courses around Scotland. Before moving to a links-style layout to appeal to those players looking to gain experience before the Open.
If you live in America, you’ll want to set your alarms and get up earlier this week to watch many of the world’s best golfers take on the challenges of links golf along the Scottish coast.
With the first round near and the Genesis Scottish Open odds out, let’s dive into our Genesis Scottish Open predictions for this year’s tournament.
Afternoon/Morning Wave with Best Draw
Before we get into our predictions, it is important to note that the weather for Friday afternoon will be the worst of the two days. This fact can impact your Genesis Scottish Open predictions. As players who will be teeing it up in the afternoon wave of the second round will be dealing with steady 20+ mph winds.
With that in mind, we have found some players with a favorable draw that we like as our Genesis Scottish Open picks.
Hovland and Hatton At the Top
The first two players on our card are Viktor Hovland (+1700) and Tyrrell Hatton (+1800).
Viktor Hovland (+1700)
Hovland is our favorite Genesis Scottish Open prediction given his elite ball-striking ability and comfort playing in undesirable conditions. The Norwegian has cracked the top 25 in 13 of 18 events this season, including seven top 10s.
Tyrrell Hatton (+1800)
Hatton is a sneaky play, but if you’ve followed golf closely this season. You know he has been one of the best golf players on the PGA Tour. The 31-year-old has six top-10s in 16 events, and he looks to lock up his eighth victory between the PGA and DP World Tours.
Homa and Scott Next in Line
Another pair of golfers with the afternoon/morning draw, Max Homa (+3400) and Adam Scott (+5000), provide excellent value this week.
Max Homa (+3400)
Homa has already won twice this season and fared well here last year, finishing T16. The California native missed back-to-back cuts at the U.S Open and Travelers Championship but bounced back his last time out with a T21 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Adam Scott (+5000)
Scott continues to find success on the golf course in his early 40s, and this year has been no different. The Australian is trying to win for the first time since 2020. But the 14-time PGA Tour winner is not far off. Four top 25s over his last six golf events tell us he is hitting his stride late in the season when it counts.
Kitayama, Woodland Lead Longshot Plays
Kurt Kitayama (+8000)
Kurt Kitayama (+8000) was runner-up here last season and is a juicy play, given his golf odds. The 30-year-old found success earlier this season by locking up his first PGA Tour win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The former UNLV star comes in missing three consecutive cuts in a row, but he’s already shown that he can win on the big stage.
Gary Woodland (+9500)
Gary Woodland (+9500) is our longshot play of the week with the biggest Genesis Scottish Open odds. The 2019 U.S. Open winner hasn’t gotten back into the winner’s circle since that victory but has the firepower to get it done on this course. Woodland’s game fits this style of play, and the 39-year-old had a solid run here last year, finishing T30.
