Understanding 2024 NFL Picks
Which were the most important picks for the 2024 NFL Draft?
The Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and LA Rams each had 11 draft picks; they were the busiest teams in selecting players for this NFL Draft season.
Who had two first round picks in the 2024 Draft?
The three favorite NFL teams for this year were:
Chicago Bears
- Pick: Caleb Williams
- Pick: Rome Odunze
Williams is actually the best quarterback prospect in this draft and one of the best in years; with Odunze, he begins build a rapport .
Arizona Cardinals
- Pick: Marvin Harrison
- Pick: Laiatu Latu
Harrison sheds contact by defenders more easily than any receiver entering the draft, and he averaged 3.44 yards per route run last season.
Latu is, however, significantly more productive than anyone else in this draft and has peerless technique; he recorded an outstanding 26.2% pass-rush win rate, notching 62 quarterback pressures from only 304 pass-rushing snaps.
Minnesota Vikings
- Pick: J.J McCarthy
- Pick: Terrion Arnold
For Minnesota Vikings the past season, Arnold broke up 11 passes and recorded three interceptions from only 43 targets, allowing just a 41.0 passer rating into his coverage
McCarthy put the team on his back. He attempted just 116 passes in the second half of games, but he has the tools and demeanor of a quarterback in the making.

NFL Picks Against the Spread
“NFL picks against the spread” frequently emerges as a central theme. Bookmakers set a spread, which is a point differential, to level the playing field between the two teams’ scores and odds.
So, what does this mean?
- The favorite, or the team predicted to win, receives a negative point value, such as -6.5, while the underdog gets a positive value, let’s say +6.5.
- If the Los Angeles Rams are favored with a spread of -7 against the San Francisco 49ers, and you bet on the Rams against the spread, they’d need to win by more than 7 points for you to cash your bet.
- Conversely, if you bet on the San Francisco 49ers, they’d need to either clinch a victory outright or lose by 6 points or less for you to win.
NFL picks against the spread is a good choice for wagering on National Football League teams.
Moneyline
With this betting market option, you need to pick the team that will win the game. That’s it. There will be a moneyline favorite listed at minus odds (i.e., -110) and an underdog listed at plus odds (i.e., +125).
For example:
- If you are a Buffalo Bills fan and think the Bills (-110) will defeat the New England Patriots (+125), simply pick the Bills on the money line. If the Bills win, you win.
Point Spread
Here, you bet on the score differential between the two teams. A winning point spread wager is when the score finishes within the spread for the team you’ve picked.
For example:
- If you’ve picked the Kansas City Chiefs, who are listed as -3.5 favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles, then the Chiefs have to win by four points or more for your bet win.
- If you chose the Eagles as +3.5 underdogs, then the Eagles can lose the game, but not by more than three points for your bet win.
Total Points (Over/Under)
Totals or over/under is the total number of points scored in the game. They are released by the oddsmakers so bettors can wager on the combined scores of the teams in a NFL matchup.
For example :
- If Seattle and Denver are listed at 42.5 total points, then the game needs to have a total of 43 points for the over to win
- While if the total of points scored is 42, then the under is the winning bet.
Props
Prop bets are bets on events within a game, with many types to choose from.
- Player to score a touchdown.
- Defense to give up so many yards.
- The coin flip of the super bowl, to name a few.
It’s a strategy type of bet.
Futures
Futures bets are betting on something to happen in the future, be it who makes the playoffs, the NFL MVP, or the Super Bowl winner, among many other futures.
