Great Kentucky Derby
The 150th Kentucky Derby, one of the best races of all time, culminated in a photo finish that determined the winner among three different horses. This is always the race in which horse race odds are more prevalent, and everyone is looking for the big winner at Churchill Downs.
After a delay of several minutes, the judges handed the win to Mystik Dan over Sierra Leone and Forever Young. Not many people were making horse racing predictions and choosing Mystik Dan to win the Kentucky Derby as he had betting odds set at +1800 to win this weekend.
When looking at a horse races betting review for the Kentucky Derby, there were two horses that stood out among the pack of 20 horses. Fierceness was the clear betting favorite to win the Kentucky Derby, while Sierra Leone was next on the list at +400.
The betting favorite was never really in the mix to come away with a win in the Kentucky Derby as other horses surged past him right away. There was over $210 million wagered at Churchill Downs this past weekend, and those that took Mystik Dan walked away with a massive payout.
While most of these races come with some great drama and intrigue, this was the first photo finish in the big race since 1996 and a Kentucky Derby Race to remember.
Thorpedo Anna Wins Kentucky Oaks
The Kentucky Oaks is another to check out for the horse races betting review as this is the top race that takes place on Friday. While many people end up waiting around until Saturday to get their bets in at Churchill Downs, this is always a great event to check out as well.
The Kentucky Oaks is one of the best options when making horse race picks today, and this was a race that was decided much earlier than the Derby. Thorpedo Anna made it clear that it was the best horse in the field as it led wire-to-wire on Friday.
Just F Y I was trying to close the gap down the final stretch, but Thorpedo Anna just would not relinquish the big lead that it had created. Thorpedo Anna was the betting favorite to win this race at 4-1 odds, and it proved that it was the best horse, even on a muddy track.
Preakness Stakes Coming
The Preakness Stakes is the next big horse racing event as it is the second leg of the Triple Crown. It’s unclear what horses will actually be signing up to compete in the big race, but there are still some betting odds to check out already.
Muth is the current betting favorite at +350 to win the Preakness Stakes, even though that horse was not in the mix at the Kentucky Derby. Fierceness is also going off at good odds to win this event as those odds are currently sitting at +450.
Experts do not expect Mystik Dan to run in the Preakness Stakes, and it will be a big underdog if it participates. Those odds are at +4500 for the horse, making it an even bigger underdog than it was for the Kentucky Derby.
