The New York Knicks (11-12) and the San Antonio Spurs (8-14) meet up in a cross-conference matchup on Tuesday at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 P.M. EST.
The Knicks came into the 2021-2022 campaign with high hopes. But those hopes have begun to fade due to their underwhelming start to the season. New York has lost three games in a row and dropped four of their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Spurs are in full-blown rebuild mode. Despite that fact, San Antonio had won four consecutive games before losing on Monday to the Suns by a final score of 108-104.
Knicks at Spurs Stats
Looking at the Knicks stats
New York is coming off of a 113-99 loss against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. Perhaps the two days off since then can help them get back on track.
The Knicks continue to rely on Julius Randle. Randle leads the team with 20.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 10 rebounds per game. He has guided the team to a 17th overall ranking in points per game with 107.
Since Randle is the focal point on offense, sharing the ball has been few and far between. New York ranks 27th in the NBA in assists per game with just 21.6.
The team is also near the bottom of the league in field goal percentage with a mark of 44.1 percent.
The inefficiencies and inconsistencies have led to New York falling well below expectations so far in 2021. The good news is that they are just a few games out of the Eastern Conference standings. The postseason is certainly still a possibility, but they need to begin performing better as soon as possible.
Looking at the Spurs stats
Nobody expects San Antonio to be a contender this year. But the Spurs are an entertaining team with plenty of young talent.
The young Dejounte Murray has shown flashes of stardom and is leading the Spurs in a number of categories. Murray leads San Antonio with 19 points and 8.5 assists per game. He also has posted 8.5 rebounds per game for good measure.
Murray is a tremendous building block for San Antonio as they think about their future.
Jakob Poeltl is another piece the Spurs are excited about. The center leads the team in rebounds with 9.4 per game. Additionally, he has displayed scoring and rim-protecting ability with 12.3 points and 1.5 blocks per contest.
The Spurs are rolling right now as well. As aforementioned, they had won four games in a row and just missed upsetting the Suns in a close game on Monday.
In the loss, San Antonio utilized a balanced attack with six players reaching double-digits in points. Murray was phenomenal with 17 points and 14 assists en route to a double-double.

Who to Bet Knicks at Spurs
The Knicks are the favorites entering Tuesday’s game. However, taking San Antonio might be the better choice in this affair.
Yes, the Spurs will be playing on the heels of a back-to-back. But they have been the better team over the past five games and are facing the Knicks at home.
I like San Antonio to upset the odds on their home court on Tuesday night.
Take the Spurs -1.5.
