The Texas A&M Aggies and Colorado Buffaloes meet for the first time this season in a Pac-12 vs. SEC matchup. The Aggies are on the road but still come into this game as 17.5 point favorites. Both of these clubs are coming off dominant Week One performances as the Aggies were 41-10 winners over Kent State and the Buffaloes were 35-7 winners over Northern Colorado.
Texas A&M Aggies Preview: Freshman QB paves the way
The No. 6 ranks Aggies opened the season with an impressive 41-10 win over Kent State. The Aggies started this game slowly before turning it on and running away with this game. The defense was really good in shutting down a Kent State offense that is considered to be one of the more lethal in the country. On the day, the Aggies ran for 303 yards and threw for 292 yards.
This is a team that looks like it could be one of the biggest surprises in the SEC West but will need the play of Haynes King to stay consistent throughout the year. Devon Achane and Isiah Spiller each rushed for 100 yards, but the play of King is going to be what to watch in this road game. Jimbo Fisher signed a big extension with the program but still has to prove he can sustain consistency with the Aggies as they are in one of the toughest conferences in football.
Haynes King will have to be a little better through the air in this game. He was 21/33 with 292 yards with two touchdowns but 3 interceptions. The Aggies are looking to be a real threat in the SEC and are asking a lot of the freshman star, but he’ll have to tone down the turnovers if they want to be considered among the elite.
Colorado Buffaloes Preview: Huge underdogs despite the Week One slaughter
The Buffaloes skated by Northern Colorado 35-7 in route to their first win of the season. This team has one of the best rushing attacks in football as they legged out 281 yards and four touchdowns. Through the air, they finished the contest with 102 passing yards. This team committed 12 penalties for 118 yards, so staying disciplined against a talented Aggies team will be a focus.
Last season the Buffaloes played well in the Covid era finishing the season at 4-2 overall. So far this season, they are off to a great start but will be severely outmatched talent-wise on Saturday afternoon. In the opener, this team went three and out in their first drives and didn’t score a point till the second quarter. They will need to get off to a better start because the Aggies are talented enough to put this game away by halftime.
The Buffaloes ran the pigskin nearly 50 times in the opener to only 15 pass attempts from Brendon Lewis. Another strong performance from the running game is going to be needed in this contest. The defense was spectacular as they held Northern Colorado to 20 rushing yards through 4 quarters. Don’t expect the same thing to happen against the Aggies.
