Let’s see which team takes the win on this Red Raiders at Jayhawks betting pick.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will travel to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the Kansas Jayhawks in a Big 12 Conference matchup.
The Red Raiders are 4-2 (1-2) this season and are coming off a 52-31 home loss against the TCU Horned Frogs. Senior quarterback Henry Colombi struggled as he went 23-of-41 for 344 yards with an interception.
The Jayhawks are 1-4 (0-2) and are coming off a 59-7 road loss against the Iowa State Cyclones. Junior quarterback Jason Bean struggled as he went 10-of-20 for 120 yards with an interception.
Receiving Some Flack
The Texas Tech Red Raiders have been struggling to get the passing game going as well as they would like, but no issues from junior wide receiver Erik Ezukanma. So far this season, he has 26 receptions for 429 yards (16.5 yards per catch) and one receiving touchdown.
In their last game against the TCU Horned Frogs, he finished with just three receptions for 23 yards (7.7 yards per catch). If the Red Raiders can be more productive in the passing game, it will do wonders for the offense.
The Texas Red Raiders have been struggling defensively as they are giving up 34.3 points per game this year. In their previous game against the TCU Horned Frogs, they allowed 52 points on 498 total yards of offense (104 passing, 394 rushing).
They need to get better at killing drives as they went 9-of-14 on third down and converted on their only fourth-down attempt. The Red Raiders could not stop the opposing running game as they averaged 8.4 rushing yards per attempt.
No Sophomore Slump
The Kansas Jayhawks need to be effective in the passing game to be successful, and sophomore wide receiver Trevor Wilson has been struggling a bit to get the ball. He has 15 catches for 271 yards (18.1 yards per catch) and a touchdown reception.
Looking at his last game against the Iowa State Cyclones, he finished with three catches for 55 yards (18.3 yards per catch). If they can figure out how to scheme plays to get Wilson the football, it will really help them move the chains.
The Kansas Jayhawks have struggled to stop opposing offenses this season as they are allowing 43.8 points per game. Looking at the last game against the Iowa State Cyclones, they gave up 59 points on 564 total yards of offense (274 passing, 290 rushing). They were not getting stops on the “money downs” as Iowa State was 4-of-9 on third down and 1-of-1 on fourth down.
The Jayhawks need to figure out how to get stops on the running attack as the Cyclones averaged 8.8 yards per carry. They need a way better performance defensively if Kansas has a chance here.
Who Should We Bet?
James Bean is leading the passing and rushing game this season for the Jayhawks while Henry Colombi has been doing well. Ezukanma has been doing well in the passing game while Trevor Wilson has been struggling to get the football.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are the better program this season so go with them to cover the spread on the road at -16.5 points.
