Dallas Cowboys vs. Seattle Seahawks Analysis
Gone are the days of Ezekiel Elliott running wild in the Dallas Cowboys backfield. Elliott was not brought back by the Cowboys, which means they are turning to Tony Pollard in the backfield. Pollard was the top rusher a season ago anyways, with over 1,000 yards in 16 games. Elliott missed two games for Dallas and finished with 876 rushing yards.
Dak Prescott is back as the quarterback. Prescott missed five games last season and finished with just shy of 3,000 passing yards. His top target CeeDee Lamb is looking to get back over 1,000 – with 1,359 yards a season ago. In the preseason loss to the Cowboys, Dallas used Will Grier and Cooper Rush under center. Grier threw for two touchdowns and an interception, finishing with 199 passing yards.
The top offensive threats in the game for Dallas were John Stephens Jr with a touchdown, along with Jalen Tolbert. Former Kansas State Wildcat running back Deuce Vaughn picked up 50 yards on the ground and a touchdown for Dallas.
The Cowboys will start their 2023 NFL schedule for the regular season on the road at the New York Giants for Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys then host the Jets in Week 2. Dallas Cowboys picks may be difficult until we see what they do consistently at the running back spot.
Seahawks’ Anticipation
Pete Carroll and his Seattle Seahawks are excited for the 2023 season. Geno Smith played every single down as the quarterback for the team a season ago. Looking at his numbers, they were fairly strong, with over 4,000 passing yards and 30 touchdowns. DK Metcalf was his top target, with more than 1000 yards on the season.
The run game is going to be a question mark this season, as former Michigan State standout Kenneth Walker already has an injury. In the preseason opener, Bryant Koback and Zach Charbonnet got chances early on and were pretty ineffective. The Seahawks used Holten Ahlers and Drew Lock at quarterback, with Lock throwing two touchdown passes and Ahlers tossing one. Jake Bobo, Matt Landers, and Easop Winston Jr were the recipients.
Seattle will finish their preseason in Green Bay next week. The regular season will start with the Seahawks hosting the Rams in Week 1 and then a trip to Detroit for Week 2. Seattle Seahawks lines were fun to bet on a season ago, as they were undervalued a bunch.
