Washington Commanders vs. Denver Broncos Analysis
Expectations were higher for Sean Payton in his first game as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. It was a struggle from the start and looked much like the 2022 version of the home team. They will look to get back on track and win in Week Two against Washington.
In the loss, the Broncos did not turn the football over once. So, that’s a positive, but came away with just 177 passing yards. No Broncos receiver had more than 40 yards in the game, with Samaje Perine leading the way with 37. Cortland Sutton had four receptions for 32 yards and was the lone Bronco to score in the game.
Javontae Williams was back for Denver. The running back got 13 carries for 52 yards in the game. Denver will finish their two-game home stand before going on the road in the next two weeks. The Broncos are at the Miami Dolphins and then at the Chicago Bears to start October.
Commanders Grind Out Ugly Opener Victory
It was not pretty, but it was a win for the Washington Commanders in the opener. The Commanders needed to score the final 10 points of the game to seal the deal. Arizona led 13-10 at halftime and 16-10 at the end of three. The touchdown in the fourth came via Sam Howell scrambling and getting into the end zone that way. He finished with just 11 yards on two carries.
The first touchdown of the season for Washington went to Brian Robinson. He caught this touchdown pass, which was the only reception of the day. He finished the game with 59 rushing yards on 19 attempts. Curtis Samuel was the top receiver for Washington, with 54 yards in the game.
The Commanders will play this game in Denver and then head home to take on the Buffalo Bills before a trip to Philadelphia in Week Four to play in their first NFC East battle of the season.

Washington Commanders vs. Denver Broncos Betting Pick and Prediction
This a case of things evening themselves out a bit. The Washington Commanders are not a great football team, and the Denver Broncos are not a horrible football team. The Commanders got to make the long travel to get to Denver and play in this one. That’s why we are siding with the home team to even things back out in the standings and win this game.
The 3.5 is a bit tricky, but look for the Denver defense to force the Commanders into a couple of turnovers.
- In our Commanders vs Broncos best bets: Denver Broncos -3.5 is the right move here.
