Played in Munich, Germany, the tennis picks have been favoring the locals for a long time, as they have been running this thing for the past five years. A number of them have been able to win the entire tournament, while some others fell just a little bit short.

Might It Be A Local?
Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev has had an incredible professional career to date, and really, he’s just getting started. He won here in both 2017 and 2018 and proved that BMW Open stats do not lie.
Zverev comes in as the No.3 ranked player and is somebody that might be able to make a lot of noise. He might no longer be considered to be a young star, but the “veteran” has been playing solid tennis to this point in 2023.
And while he is just 10-10 to this point in 2023, his earnings are just under $750K. He does have 19 singles titles to his name and is 25 years of age. Having been on the circuit for a long time, he knows to follow the tennis schedule set about for him by his coaches. When that is the case, a lot of winning has tended to befall him.
Jan-Lennard Struff
32-year-old Jan-Lennard Struff is certainly another German player that might be able to find success at the tournament in Munich. He is but 5-5 this year but has had past success.
Struff was the 2021 runner-up and proved he could hang with the big dogs until the end. He ultimately bowed out to Nikoloz Basilashvili in that final game.
BMW Open predictions have to consider that Struff is good enough to hang on his home turf to get back to that final dance. Zverev is the only German to win since 2017, but three have reached a final.
39-year-old Philip Kohlschreiber is the only player to win the BMW Open three times. Unfortunately, though, his career has passed him by, and he’s finished. He would have been one of the favorites if he could have played in it. Among the other local options are Oscar Otte, Yannick Hanfmann, and Daniel Altmaier.
Perhaps a Favorite Wins?
Holger Rune
Holger Rune is one of the best tennis players in the world right now. The native of Poland has shot up the ranks, and any BMW Open predictions will have to have his name on them in some capacity.
He is far too good to ignore, and as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have retired/faded into the background, Rune has become one of the new commodities.
Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic is always a favorite, and he’s contending with him. Joker is playing a tournament in Bosnia, though, so this one will be more wide open.
Lorenzo Sonego
27-year-old Lorenzo Sonego of Italy has been playing quality tennis of late. He’s the No.6 seed for the tournament and could wind up coming away with a few key victories.
He peaked at No.21 in the rankings last April and has three singles titles in his career. It isn’t all that likely he is able to come away with a victory, but there is some hope he could get to the last stage.
Taylor Fritz
Taylor Fritz, No.5 in the world right now, has been a great representation for the USA these last few years. His play has improved significantly, and he is among the best in the game.
The 25-year-old has six titles in his career to date and has a serious chance to win in Munich. While the American men still find themselves unable to score Grand Slam titles, they have discovered great continual success in the ATP get-togethers.
