Here’s a look at some interesting facts about NFL Week 10 matchups.
West Coast Battle
The San Francisco 49ers have been known for having an efficient offense under Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers have found creative ways to utilize wide receive Deebo Samuel to take the pressure off the passing game. San Francisco will want to utilize that creativity to keep a Los Angeles Chargers defense off balance.
The Chargers’ defense struggled throughout most of last season, allowing 27.9 points per game. Los Angeles, however, has an excellent offense led by young quarterback Justin Herbert. This game will be a good measuring stick for the Chargers, who just missed the playoffs last season.
Other Important Matchups
- The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears game may mean nothing in the grand scheme of the 2022 season. However, for Lions coach Dan Campbell winning these types of games will show progress. Despite going winless during its first 11 games of a 3-13-1 season, Detroit was notable for hanging tough with teams. Chicago only beat the Lions by a combined 12 points in its two meetings last season.
- Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys will look to make a mark at Lambeau Field against the Packers. Green Bay has won eight of its past nine games against the Cowboys, including a 34-31 playoff game in 2017. However, the last time the two teams met in Green Bay, on Oct. 16, 2016, Dallas came away with a 30-16 win.
- The Denver Broncos, who have 22 playoff appearances in their history, haven’t been back to the playoffs since Peyton Manning retired. That’s why the Broncos made in an effort to bring in veteran Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason. Tennessee is still hoping to win behind the strong running of Derrick Henry. The Titans will largely be dependent and seeing if Ryan Tannehill can keep playing well to see if they can repeat their record as the AFC’s top seed like last year.
