GNK Dinamo Zagreb is Croatia to the football club representing the team in the UEFA Champions League. The team plays its games in the Prva HNL and is one of the most successful teams in the league. Although the team hasn’t won a major UEFA trophy, they’ve won multiple titles in Croatia.

The team is an exciting contender this season, even though their champions league odds have never been very high. However, they are an exciting team to watch and would cause the top teams some problems. In that case, we expect Dinamo Zagreb stats to increase as they participate in the competition this season.

Dinamo Zagreb General Info

The team’s full name is Gradanski Nogometni Klub Dinamo Zagreb, loosely translated into Dinamo Zagreb Citizen’s Football Club. They’ve been around for more than a century and currently play their games at Stadion Maksimir. The team remains one of the most decorated teams in the league.

Modri, Plavi (the Blues) or Purgeri (the Citizens), as they are fondly called, is a team to watch in the UEFA Champions League as they dominated the Prva HNL to make it into the competition. They might not be a significant contender in Europe, but they add that extra zing and make the competition more attractive to Croatian fans.

Dinamo Zagreb History

The team’s journey started on the 26th of April 1911 as HSK Gradanski when Croatia was still a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The team was created by Andrija Mutafelija and his group of friends. And for many decades, the team operated as HSK Gradanski until 1945, when it was dissolved after World War II.

However, three days after the dissolution, the team was rebranded into FD Dinamo ( Fiskulturno Drustvo Dinamo). From there, the team kept growing, and after a few years, they won their first continental trophy. After that, they earned more accolades and won more trophies to bolster their collection.

Dinamo Zagreb Records

One thing we can’t deny about Dinamo Zagreb is that the team has an incredible record throughout their champions league schedule. Going for their league matches is a sure way to get more wins than losses when you engage in Dinamo Zagreb betting. However, the case differs from the UEFA Champions League or other UEFA Competitions.

The team had only won one European title, which was back in the 1966/67 season when they won against Leeds United in the two-legged final. They beat Leeds at Maksmir 2-0 and played 0-0 at Elland Road to seal their victory. Aside from that, they’ve won multiple championships in the Croatian professional football division.

As the team tries to improve their chances of impacting the UCL and winning the league, they’ve had a few arrivals and departures to reshape the team. In that case, below are some of the top arrivals and departures in the Dinamo Zagreb team for the 2022/23 transfer.

  • Arrivals: Bosko Sutalo, Josip Drmic, Robert Ljubicic, Bartol Barisic, and Gabrijel Rukavina.
  • Departures: Kristijan Jakic, Bartol Franjic, Petar Stojanovic, Amer Gojak, and Marko Tolic.
