Team History

Launched in 2012 as a Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion team, Club de Foot Montréal (CF Montréal) was originally known as the Montreal Impact and didn’t take on its current name until the 2021 season. However, the rebranding wasn’t quite popular among all supporters, and the club announced plans to introduce a new logo for the 2023 season.

Montreal’s ownership group, including chairman Joey Saputo, had plans to create an MLS team as early as 2007. Still, Toronto FC held a three-year Canadian club exclusivity deal at that time. CF Montréal stats officially became the league’s 19th club on May 7, 2010. The club is owned privately by the Saputo family and plays out of the 19,619-seat Saputo Stadium. CF Montréal betting has played some matches at the Olympic Stadium, the old home of MLB’s Montreal Expos.
