Current Squad / Roster

Having a club in the New York metropolitan area was critical as it is one of the biggest media markets in the entire world. Today we are going to talk about the history of this club and despite not winning a MLS Cup as of this writing, they have been an important part of the MLS season as a whole. They are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference with an 11-8-8 record and eight overall in the MLS standings.

Team History

The New York Red Bulls have a lot of history behind it as they were one of the original MLS teams when they joined as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars. In 2006, the club was sold to Red Bull GmbH and rebranded as the New York Red Bulls. There is definitely a lot of history throughout the team so let’s talk about it.

NY Red Bulls Records

The New York Red Bulls stats are pretty consistent that one player has dominated throughout the course of franchise history over any other, both offensively and in the net. Striker Brady Wright-Phllips has scored the most goals by far for the club with 106 goals, which is more than double of any other player in their history. He finished the 2014 season with 27 goals, which also is a franchise record. Goalkeeper Luis Robles has played 206 games and finished with 63 shutouts as a member of the Red Bulls. They have had some good players, which has helped their MLS betting stats as a whole, though.

Championships Won

The New York Red Bulls have not won a championship since joining Major League Soccer but have made an appearance in one MLS Cup, which we will dive into.

Historical Events

The Red Bulls appeared in a single MLS Cup and that was during the 2008 season as they faced off against the Columbus Crew. They were unable to take advantage of the early momentum as they were the better team in the first 30 minutes. Forward John Wolyniec scored in the 51st minute, but they ended up losing 3-1 in the game and this would be their only appearance in the MLS Cup in franchise history. New York Red Bulls betting on futures in terms of winning the championship have not been there, but this team looks primed to potentially make a run and be in the playoffs.

Championship Won by the Team

The New York Red Bulls franchise has never won a championship in Major League Soccer since the inception of the league that began in the 1996 season. The MLS schedule is difficult to get through, and this is proof as not every team is able to have a championship to its name.

The New York Red Bulls have been extremely active on the transfer market this year as they have acquired forward Elias Manoel (loan) from Gremio, defender Kyle Duncan, forward Ashley Fletcher (loan) from Watford, defender Thomas Edwards (loan) from Stoke City, midfielder Luquinhas (undisclosed) from Legia Warsaw, midfielder Caden Clark (loan) from RB Leipzig, midfielder Jesus Castellano (undisclosed) from Yaracuyanos, and goalkeeper Carlos Coronel (undisclosed) from FC Salzburg. They have only had a few transfers out, though, as defender Jason Pendant (undisclosed) is with US Quevilly, forward Omar Sowe (loan) is with Breioabilk, and forward Jake Lacava (loan) is with the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

One of the biggest and brightest head coaches in New York Red Bulls history was Jesse Marsch. He was the coach from January 7, 2015, to July 6, 2018, and during that span, he had a 76-30-45 record. The only other coach in history with at least 50 wins was Octavio Zambrano. He was the coach from November 29, 1999, through October 8, 2022, and in that span, he finished going 52-9-36.
