The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2022 Summer continues on Saturday, June 25, with the opening round of the Week 2 matches. However, while the second week will feature many exciting games, it’s the clash between Cloud9 and 100 Thieves that’s on everyone’s mind.
As a match between two of NA’s top LoL teams, it could have serious implications on where the two sides will end the season, so we can be sure we’re in for a spectacular affair. But most importantly, this match offers plenty of excellent League of Legends betting opportunities, which we will explore in this article.
Last game records
Cloud9 kicked off the new season quite poorly, having lost against Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, and even Golden Guardians. It’s not a start C9 was hoping for and definitely the start anyone expected to see.
C9 had to play with stand-in players, so they deserve some slack for their lack of success. Still, that begs the question of whether Cloud9 will manage to bounce back in Week 2, or will their woes continue even with the primary roster?
100 Thieves won two of their opening series against TSM and Dignitas, but they were no match for Evil Geniuses, who defeated them on Sunday. As a result, 100T are 2-1, which isn’t a terrible record to hold, but at the same time, 100T have yet to really impress.
Cloud9 vs. 100 Thieves Betting Analysis
Cloud9 and 100 Thieves are two of NA’s top LoL teams and are often viewed as equally strong. Perhaps that’s not entirely true, but there’s no denying that the teams field very similar quality players.
The last time C9 and 100T met was during the LCS 2022 Spring playoffs, when 100T blasted Cloud9 3-0 and pushed them into the lower bracket, where Cloud9 eventually ended their journey with a 0-3 defeat against Evil Geniuses. 100 Thieves, on the other side, made it all the way to the finals, only to suffer the same fate – 0-3 defeat against EG.
Based on that result, 100T is the better team, but things have changed since. Cloud9 fields a different team, and the current meta is much different as well. So perhaps we should take the teams’ past H2H results with a grain of salt while betting on esports.
Cloud9
Cloud9 has yet to find any traction this season, and their 0-3 record ahead of LCS 2022 Summer Week 2 is very concerning. However, in their defense, C9 were without two key players for Week 1, so we shouldn’t overreact to their defeats.
At the same time, the return of Berserker and Zven does not guarantee that Cloud9 will be much better. We have yet to see the duo play together, so there are many question marks above Cloud9 and their ceiling.
That said, if the rumors are correct, Cloud9 is doing extremely well in scrims, so perhaps Berserker and Zven truly are the solution to Cloud9’s struggles.
100 Thieves
100 Thieves have not made any roster changes ahead of the LCS 2022 Summer, and realistically, they don’t need to. This is a solid and consistent team that nearly defended their crown last split.
You could argue that 100T looked better heading into the LCS 2022 Summer finals, but they choked and let the title slip between their fingers. Still, we must acknowledge that the game’s current state is much different from how it was in spring.
Games tend to drag out longer, and as of the latest patch, they tend to be much bloodier. This could work in 100 T’s favor as they are the type of team to use calculated aggression to gain leads, but breaking Cloud9’s defenses isn’t as easy as Cloud9 made it seem last week.
Updates
The big news ahead of this match is the return of Berserker and Zven to Cloud9’s lineup. Berserker has been dealing with Visa issues over the first week, and he is expected to make his way back into the starting roster comes Week 2.
On the other side, there is no news regarding the 100 Thieves roster, meaning we can expect to see the same five-man lineup that led the organization to a 2-1 record in Week 1.
Cloud9 vs. 100 Thieves Betting Preview
Cloud9 and 100 Thieves should produce an exciting match this weekend. Some believe 100T should win, and while it is true that 100T have looked better in Week 1, they were by no means impressive. They won the games they were supposed to but cracked when faced with tough opponents, which raises a few flags.
On the other side, we can’t really praise Cloud9 either, but as noted, they were not playing with their starting lineup and had to use academy players, which didn’t help their cause. Now, with Berserker and Zven ready to fight under C9’s banner, we expect the team to do better, but can they actually lead Cloud9 to a victory?
Cloud9 vs. 100 Thieves Betting Prediction
The League of Legends betting odds for this match have yet to be released, but we can safely assume that 100 Thieves and Cloud9 will be priced pretty evenly. That is because we can’t know for sure how C9 will do with their full lineup in the current meta, but we can speculate.
Berserker was an exceptional ADC last split, and if his performance in spring is any indication, he can easily take over as the main carry. Likewise, we have high expectations for Zven as the new support, so if things fall into place for C9, we could be looking at serious title contenders.
How to bet on Cloud9 vs. 100 Thieves
Without knowing that the League of Legends betting odds for this match will show, we will recommend a bet on Cloud9 as long as you can get odds of -110 or better. It might be a risky bet trusting a team that has yet to play an official match with a full roster, but given the raw talent on this team, it’s not too crazy.
Moreover, 100T have not looked too good in Week 1, and until they show a bit more, we will continue to believe that they’re very beatable – especially for a top team such as Cloud9.
Prediction: Cloud9 to win
