The biggest addition to this team is running back Ty Chandler, and he will be on the field right away. Chandler rushed for over 2,000 yards while at the University of Tennessee, and he should fit in well with this offense.

Key Subtractions

This is where things could get difficult for North Carolina this season as they lost their four best skill players from 2020 and also their top defensive player. North Carolina did have a very deep roster in 2020, but losing this much talent could be a problem.
Running backs Michale Carter and Javonte Williams are no longer at UNC, and they were nearly unstoppable a season ago. Wide receivers Dyami Brown and Dazz Newsome have moved on as well, and those were two of Howell’s favorite targets.
The defense of UNC should be strong this season, but they will be without linebacker Chazz Surratt.

The North Carolina Tar Heels and Miami Hurricanes are both listed at +125 to win the Coastal Division this season. The next team on the list is all the way down at +1000, which means that this should be a two-team race.
Winning the Coastal Division would be a huge step for UNC, but winning the ACC is going to be a major challenge. The Tar Heels are +1000 to win the conference, while the Clemson Tigers are the favorites at -900.
