He later became the head coach at the University of Iowa and the University of Colorado, earning numerous conference coach of the year awards and leading his teams to several bowl game appearances.

  • Tom Amstutz (2001-2008): Amstutz took over as head coach in 2001 and quickly led the Rockets to success, including four bowl game appearances and two MAC championships. He was named the MAC Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2004 and retired as the winningest coach in Rockets histor
