Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Picks and Analysis
Joey Chestnut
Chestnut is the overwhelming favorite to win for the eighth straight year. So, bettors won’t get a good return on their investment by betting on the 15-time champion. However, as far as this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest picks, no one is more sure than Chestnut.
Matt Stonie was the last person to beat him in 2015 when he ended the champion’s eight-year winning streak by two hot dogs. But he hasn’t competed in competitive eating since 2019.
Geoffrey Esper
Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest betting odds have Esper as one of the top competitors to challenge Chestnut in 2023. Finished second in last year’s contest, eating 47 hot dogs, and is ranked second in the 2023 Major League Eating standings.
He also holds many competitive eating records, such as 83 slices of pizza, 95 two-ounce tamales, 281 Hooters Wings and 293 Jack’s Donut Holes in ten minutes. While hot dogs aren’t his specialty, he holds several brats eating records but will have to smash his record of 51 hot dogs if he hopes to win.
Nick Wehry
Wehry is another professional competitive eater with a slim chance in this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest betting. He also defeated Chestnut in a recent eating competition in February while setting a record by eating 109 pistachios in eight minutes.
If Wehry can somehow channel his pistachio-eating speed into this year’s contest. The 33-year-old may be able to contend for the championship belt.
Darron Breeden
Breeden holds several records in competitive eating and is unbeaten in the milk and cookie, and cheese curd categories. However, his domination of the dairy discipline may not be enough to overtake Chestnut in this year’s contest.
He finished second in the Contest in 2019 and 2020 but never got closer than 21 hot dogs. Nevertheless, Breeden should be able to stay close to the other competitors if something unforeseen happens with Chestnut.
Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Betting Prediction
Chestnut is the top choice at 2023 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest betting odds and is poised to take his eighth straight victory. His total fell below 70 hot dogs last year for the first time since 2016, but all other competitors will struggle to surpass the 50 mark.
However, no one would be surprised if the 38-year-old surpasses his record again and goes beyond 76 hot dogs.
