Here’s a look at some of the weekly horse races to bet on, including the highly anticipated Grand National and Lexington Stakes.
Grand National 2024
The Grand National is undeniably one of the biggest horse races on the planet, with a field of over 30 runners set to take on the grueling four-mile trip at Aintree on Saturday. This race is the richest jump race in Europe with a purse of £1 million up for grabs, and it will be watched by around 600 million people in over 140 different countries.
Corach Rambler was a very impressive winner of the race in 2023, and the Lucinda Russell will be a short price to join the likes of Tiger Roll and Red Rum in successfully defending his title. However, he will carry considerably more weight this year and comes to Aintree after a grueling third in the G1 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
I Am Maximus is one of some runners for training maestro Willie Mullins, who is chasing a first win in the race since Hedgehunter in 2005. This eight-year-old could be a very interesting contender after landing the Irish National next year and was an impressive 14-length winner over Vanillier on his previous outing at Fairyhouse.
However, there is a chance on Nassalam for Gary Moore. He is likely to get his preferred conditions this weekend after constant rainfall in Liverpool, and the strength of his 34-length demolition in the Welsh National looks to be the standout form line.
Stay on top of the action with the latest scores and odds throughout the weekend to make informed decisions on your wagers.
Lexington Stakes
The last chance saloon arrives for runners holding to earn a spot in the field for the Kentucky Derby this year on Saturday, as Keeneland hosts the Lexington Stakes. It is the final race on the Road to the Derby, and only victory for the runners involved will secure a place in the final field at Churchill Downs next month.
It hasn’t been the most successful race in terms of producing Derby contenders in recent years, but the 2024 edition does look like a much hotter race than is typically the case. Hades will be among the leading horse racing predictions on Saturday, with the runner having won three from four career starts to date, He was slightly below his best when fifth in the G1 Florida Derby, but he retains plenty of ability.
However, we’d be keen to take a chance on The Wine Steward for our bet on horse racing this weekend. This three-year-old for Michael Maker has won three from four career starts, and will be making his return to action for the first time this year on Saturday. He has proven Keeneland form in the book after finishing second in the G1 Breeders’ Futurity last year.
Apple Blossom Hcp
There will also be Grade One action at Oaklawn Park this weekend, as the Apple Blossom Hcp is one of the standout Weekly Horse races to bet on. This race is for fillies and mares aged four and older, and there will be a considerable purse of $1 million up for grabs.
There have been some very exciting winners of this race throughout recent history, including Clairiere, Letruska, and Ce Ce since 2020. A typically high-quality renewal of the race is set this weekend, with Adare Manor among the contenders in the field. Fresh off a dominant runner-up finish in the G1 Beholder Mile, this five-year-old is ready to contend again.
Taxed could be an interesting play at a price after returning to action with a fine win in an allowance optional claimer at Oaklawn Park in March. But, Wet Paint could be the runner to side with for Brad Cox after finishing eighth in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff last year. She was impressive at Oaklawn last year, winning the G3 Fantasy and G3 Honeybee Stakes. Good luck with your Horse racing best bets 2024!
