Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview
The Angels won 10 of the 18 regular-season meetings with Seattle last year, but of course, the Mariners got the last laugh by finishing 17 games ahead of L.A. and securing their first playoff berth since 2001. Keep reading for Mariners vs Angels odds and our prediction.
Seattle Mariners
The M’s will look to build off a season in which they went 90-72. They swept the Blue Jays in the Wild Card round before falling to the eventual champion Astros in the ALDS in three games.
They’ve become buyers recently, acquiring Luis Castillo from Cincinnati at the deadline last year. Also, they have added Teoscar Hernandez from Toronto this offseason to play right field. Seattle Mariners games will be meaningful once again, especially with rising superstar Julio Rodriguez leading the way.
Los Angeles Angels
Los Angeles Angels news always seems to revolve around Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, and for a good reason. They might just be the two best players in the game. But everyone wonders when that talent will lead the Angels to a postseason run. The team finished 73-89 last year and hasn’t finished above .500 since 2015, despite those two combining for four MVP awards.
And now, for better or worse, both Trout and Ohtani are playing in the World Baseball Classic, away from their teammates. Both, of course, are crushing it for their respective teams, and a potential Japan vs. USA showdown would be enormous if both can get that far.
Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels Betting Picks
The Halos have played well without their top two guns, going 5-1-1 over their last seven Spring Training games. And now they’ll have Tucker Davidson toe the rubber as he continues to make a push to secure a spot in the rotation.
Davidson will be opposed by Robbie Ray, who has struck out six and hasn’t allowed a run in his two spring starts so far upon checking MLB player stats.
The MLB injury report is fairly clean for this one though it’s worth keeping an eye on Taylor Trammell in Seattle, a player vying for a platoon role at least in the outfield but is still recovering after getting hit in the hand by a pitch in February.
Now that we are done with the Mariners vs Angels odds, let’s pick the winner. The Mariners have won three in a row themselves. They have scored 26 runs during the stretch, so we’ll take the plus money on Monday afternoon and roll with Seattle.
