In American League East action, the Boston Red Sox (5-5) and the Toronto Blue Jays (6-4) are set to cross paths for the first time this campaign.
Last Games Records
Boston fell behind early and bowed to Minnesota, 8-3, in the finale of a three-game home series Monday afternoon.
Toronto held on at home Sunday to beat Oakland, 4-3. Since coming out on the right side of their first two games, the Blue Jays haven’t been able to win more than one in a row.
The way it looks early on, MLB expert picks see both clubs being in the thick of the race to unseat Tampa Bay atop the AL East. Boston last claimed a division title in 2018, which was their first go-round under the direction of manager Alex Cora. Toronto, meanwhile, hasn’t done so in its last six tries.
Matchup Information
Let’s glance at the betting guides and MLB betting trends for this clash.
Blue Jays at Red Sox Betting Analysis
Boston Red Sox Betting Analysis
Following a pair of defeats to the archrival New York Yankees to ring in the new year, the Red Sox have found firmer footing, picking up five wins in eight tries.
Boston totaled the fifth-most runs and recorded the third-highest batting average in the MLB last regular season. So far this spring, however, the Red Sox haven’t been nearly as successful in either of those offensive categories.
Left fielder Alex Verdugo has keyed the team at the dish, clubbing three home runs and eight RBIs while posting a .333 average. As it stands, third baseman Rafael Devers has among the most hits (15) of any American League player. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts accounted for three base knocks – including a double – the last time out.
Following a 0-for-5 effort on Apr. 8, second baseman Trevor Story has accounted for at least one hit in each of his last five games with his new club.
Boston will send their current ace, Nathan Eovaldi, to the mound. So far, in his fifth year in Beantown, he paces the Red Sox with 10 innings of work and 13 strikeouts. In a five-frame showing against Detroit last Wednesday, Eovaldi (1-0) allowed only two runs and four hits, earning the win at Detroit.
However, the absence of a few unvaccinated players on the road trip doesn’t figure to help Boston’s cause.
Toronto Blue Jays Betting Analysis
One thing is for sure in betting on baseball lately. The Blue Jays love the long ball. Save for the Los Angeles Angels’ 15 dingers, Toronto’s 14 home runs are the most of any major league squad.
Along with Colorado’s C.J. Cron and Atlanta’s Ozzie Albies, first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is tied for first in the MLB with five homers. He’s also driven in 10 runs. However, he’s gone hitless in three of his last four games.
Corner outfielders Teoscar Hernandez and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. are both batting over .300 for Toronto. Hernandez is on the Injured List with an oblique strain.
Lefty Yusei Kikuchi gets his second start after lasting 3.1 innings and giving up three runs to the Yankees in his first. For his career, he has a 4.98 ERA.
Updates
- The Blue Jays are 6-4 against the moneyline to this point
- Boston is 6-4 in regard to the runline
- The under has hit each of the Red Sox last five games following a loss
Blue Jays at Red Sox Betting Preview
Sports betting guides point to the visitors Tuesday night. Having Eovaldi on the hill should be beneficial for Boston against a powerful lineup.
Still, the Blue Jays have a handful of batters with multiple home runs already. They can strike with one stroke, so the battle should be an intriguing one.

How to Bet on Blue Jays at Red Sox
The Red Sox are marked down as the road favorites in this one. They’ll have to win by at least two runs to cover the spread. I don’t think that will happen. The Blue Jays might even win outright.
