The 2023 Grand Prix de France is the seventh event on the MotoGP schedule in the World Motorcycle Racing championship season. The race has been run on many different circuits during its history and has been held at the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans since 2000.
The field is wide open for this year’s event, as the MotoGP standings don’t show any driver with a clear advantage leading up to the event. This year’s MotoGP race will run on Sunday, May 14, at 7 AM ET.
2020 Moto2 Champion Enea Bastianini won last year’s event by less than three seconds over Ducati teammate Jack Miller after both drivers started from the front row. Aprilia driver Alex Espargaro finished third after also qualifying to start from the front of the field. Defending world champion Francesco Bagnaia started in the top position on the grid but failed to finish last year’s event after an accident on lap 20.
Grand Prix de France Odds Analysis
Francesco Bagnaia
After back-to-back crashes in Grand Prix events, Bagnaia silenced his critics with a win at last week’s MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix. It was the second main victory of the season for the Ducati rider, earning him 34 points to put him back into the lead in the championship standings. After his stunning performance last week, he has a 22-point lead in the championship race over Italian countryman Marco Bezzecchi, and Grand Prix de France odds have him as one of the favorites to win this weekend.
Marco Bezzecchi
After seven podium finishes in Moto2 in 2021, the three-time Moto2 World Champion was last year’s MotoGP Rookie of the Year, getting his first podium finish at the Dutch TT. He’s already made the podium twice in 2023 with a third and first-place finish in his four starts. His impressive start to the season has him second in the MotoGP standings with 65 points, making him one of the favorites to get the victory at Le Mans this Sunday.
Jack Miller
Miller finished on the podium seven times in 2022, including the best race of his career when he easily took the victory in Japan. He’s fourth in the MotoGP standings, with one third-place finish in 2023. The Ducati Lenovo team member finished second at last year’s Grand Prix de France after starting from the same position and is expected to be again one of the favorites in this year’s Grand Prix de France odds.
Brad Binder
The South African driver was the 2020 MotoGP Rookie of the Year after becoming the first rookie since Marc Marquez to win an event in a season in which he had five top-ten finishes. He’s currently third in the MotoGP standings after his impressive second-place finish in Spain last week. He finished eighth in last year’s event and is among the top choices in this year’s Grand Prix de France odds.
Grand Prix de France Betting Picks and Prediction
Bagnaia scored the most points in Spain last weekend to take the championship lead over Bezzecchi, who only managed to score one point in Jerez. Red Bull KTM racer Binder battled until the end with Bagnaia to finish a close second and should again be among the leaders in MotoGP odds when the green flag drops on Sunday.
Binder’s teammate Miller has been following a similar path after jumping to fourth in the standings with his third-place finish in the sprint and race last week. While the fight for the Championship remains wide open, Miller seems like the most likely driver in the field to take the 2023 Grand Prix de France championship.
