Sports fans, it is time to wake up; March is finally here. A new week is beginning, and we know Mondays are rough, but at least we get a fresh week to make our favorite bets this week.
This weekend already featured the first automatic bid to the NCAA Men’s Tournament, some great UFC fights, and many more fun events. The new week should be just as exciting. What are some of your favorite bets you are looking forward to making this week? Follow along for our best bets to make this week in sports.
The Future and the Present
When looking at the best bets in the world of sports this week, we are focusing on now but also taking a look into the future. The NBA season is coming to an end in less than 20 games, MLB Spring Training is in full swing, and perhaps the greatest sporting event in the world, March Madness, is a week away.
Get your notebook and your favorite pen out as you should get ready to tail these three picks. Two of the picks will take place this week, while one of them will be a no-brainer future bet you need to make now.
Thursday Parlay
There are six NBA games taking place on Thursday, and we are going to bet on three of them. Start off your bets this week with a simple parlay that will have great value. Keep a close eye on the Charlotte Hornets vs Detroit Pistons, Rockets vs Pacers and Knicks vs Kings.
The first game of the day features the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, the Hornets, and the Pistons. Thursday is the fourth and final battle of the season series between these two teams, with the Pistons leading 2-1. Two of the games have gone to overtime, including the game on February 27 in which LaMelo Ball suffered his season-ending injury.
Why Betting on the Hornets Moneyline is a Smart Choice
Starting off your betting picks and parlays, take the Charlotte moneyline over the pistons. The Hornets will be playing with a chip on their shoulder after Ball was injured the last time they played, and the Pistons have expanded their depth chart. Guys like Eugene Omoruyi and Jared Rhoden are now receiving minutes. The tank is real in Detroit, so take the Charlotte moneyline.
Adding to the parlay, we are looking at the Rockets against the Pacers. This one is an easy choice; take the Indiana moneyline over Houston. The Pacers have home-court advantage against the Rockets, who are 6-27 on the road. Indiana is battling for a play-in spot, and needs this win over an inferior Houston team.
Finishing up our three-pick parlay will be a big game between the Kings and Kings. Both teams are in the top-5 in their conference and are looking to improve their seeding come playoff time. The Knicks are hot, but so will the beam on Thursday night. Take the Sacramento moneyline to wrap up Thursday night’s parlay.
Big East, Big Bets
March Madness is nearly here, so it would be a mistake to not bet on college basketball this week. With conference tournaments taking place nationwide, our eyes are on the Big East. The conference bracket just got revealed, and the top four seeds are Marquette, Xavier, Creighton, and UConn, in that order.
In what is always a multi-bid conference, the UConn Huskies will walk away with the conference title. It has been an up-and-down season for the Huskies, but they are back on the way up. From being ranked No. 2 in the country and being undefeated to being torched in the early part of the Big East slate, UConn has won eight of its last nine games.
Even though the Huskies are ranked No. 4 in the conference tourney, they still have the best odds at +200 to walk out of Madison Square Garden on top. This is not too surprising, as they have the 6th best NCAA odds to win the entire Tournament.
UConn opens up the Big East Tournament on March 9 against the 5th-ranked Providence Friars. Place your bets on UConn now before they defeat Providence, and the odds decrease in value.
NFL Draft
It has almost been a month without the NFL, yet it feels like it has been in internity. Sure, there is the XFL, but it is just not the same. With that being said, our finally bet of the week will be a future relating to the 2023 NFL Draft. Who do you think will be selected first overall in the draft?
Sportsbooks have six players listed with having the best odds to be taken first off the board. Bryce Young is listed at -190, Anthony Richardson at +325, CJ Stroud at +400, Will Levis at +900, Will Anderson at +1100, and Jalen Carter at +4000. After turning heads at the combine, Richardson’s odds skyrocketed. Scouts have loved his speed, athleticism, and his frame.
Understanding the Draft Odds
You do not have to know how to bet on sports to know that Young is going to be taken first overall in the draft come April. With the recent allegations surrounding Carter, and the news that the Chicago Bears are leaning toward shipping the pick, a quarterback will be taken first. In a quarterback-heavy draft at the top of the big board, Young is the safest pick.
Regardless of what team holds the first overall pick on draft night, Young’s name will be called before anyone else. At -190 odds, the value is not jaw-dropping, but this is one of the best bets this week and the best bets in all of sports.
