After a one-week break, the NASCAR Xfinity Series is back with the 2022 SRS Distribution 250, slated to take place on Saturday. May 21, at Texas Motor Speedway. It will mark the first race since the Mahindra ROXOR 200 on May 7 and the 12th event of the NASCAR 2022 schedule.
In the previous race, we saw Justin Allgaier defend his Mahindra ROXOR 200 and claim his first victory of the season, making him an interesting NASCAR betting picks for the upcoming event as well. However, even though Allgaier has shown up last time out, there are other drivers we’re interested in at the offered NASCAR odds. Check the SRS Distribution 250 Betting Picks below.
SRS Distribution 250 Betting Picks
Noah Gragson
Noah Gragson has found himself in an intense battle for the Xfinity crown with A.J. Allmendinger and now heads to Texas as the no.2 on the season standings, 25 points behind his rival. Although 25 points isn’t a small sum, Gragson has been driving exceptionally well of late and should be considered as one of the favorites to win the weekend race.
Gragson has already won two races in 2022 (Phoenix, Talladega) and has finished worse than top-5 in just three of the 11 events so far. That includes 26th in Atlanta, 21st in Richmond, and 20th at Martinsville. Elsewhere, he has collected four top-3s and has not placed worse than fourth across the last four outings.
That includes 1st at Talladega, fourth at Dover, and second in Darlington. And if that is not enough, Gragson also has a very impressive record in Texas.
Admittedly, he failed to deliver in his first three Texas races, but he found his stride ahead of the 2020 playoffs race and has since posited great results. He placed second here in 2020 and added a seventh and third-place finish in 2021. It’s also worth noting that Gragson should have won the 2020 playoffs race but slipped and let Harrison Burton steal the W.
William Byron
William Byron will make his first Xfinity start since he won the 2017 Xfinity Series crown in 2017 and will be one of the main candidates to win in Texas. As one of the three Cup Series drivers attending the race, Byron definitely deserves some respect, but there’s more than him being a Cup Series driver.
Byron appeared in two Texas races back in 2017, and to be honest; he hasn’t achieved much – placing ninth in both. Still, he led 17 laps in each race. Moreover, Byron was excellent in Texas in last year’s playoff race, in which he finished second while starting from 12th.
Byron is the NASCAR betting favorite for the upcoming race, and that sounds fair.
A.J. Allmendinger
A.J. Allmendinger is the current Xfinity Series points leader with just one win to his name. And that is only possible thanks to his incredible consistency as a driver.
Allmendinger has not finished worse than ninth across all 11 races of the 2022 season, while five of his six top-5s are third or better. Impressive numbers, but Allmendinger has just two Xfinity starts at Texas, so he might lack some experience.
Nevertheless, he delivered in both Texas races, claiming two sixth-place finishes while qualifying as the fastest driver in both. Moreover, he led for eight and 13 laps, which isn’t the most impressive figure, but it shows that Allmendinger can deliver on the track.
This time out, we expect even better results from him due to Allmendinger’s form on road courses in 2022. He led over 30 laps at 1.5-mile tracks in 2022, and knowing that Texas is another 1.5-mile track, we should keep an eye out on Allmendinger.
SRS Distribution 250 Betting Trends
- Kyle Busch is the most successful river of SRS Distribution 250 with seven wins to his name, followed by Mark Martin with three.
- Joe Gibbs Racing, Roush Fenway Racing, and Team Penske are the only three teams that won the race more than once.
- Joe Gibbs Racing is the most dominant team on the track with nine wins and seven since 2010 – winning all but two (2018, 2020) races over the last 12 years.
- Ford and Toyota are the most dominant manufacturers of SRS Distribution 250, winning nine races apiece and every race since 2014.
- Of the two manufacturers, Toyota have been more consistent, winning races in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021, with Penske picking up Ws in 2018 and 2020.
SRS Distribution 250 Betting Predictions
The most obvious of the NASCAR picks for this weekend’s race is William Byron, but he doesn’t offer much value at the offered NASCAR betting odds. Admittedly, he seems like the best driver on paper, but we’re leaning more towards A.J. Allmendinger to steal the spotlight.
He might not be the most experienced driver in Texas, and Allmendinger has yet to produce any exceptional results on the track. However, he is by far the most consistent driver this season and has already shown numerous times that he can compete for the win in any race.
Moreover, his results on the 1.5-mile tracks in 2022 have been phenomenal, so it’s fair to expect Allmendinger to show up this weekend.
Prediction: A.J. Allmendinger to win
