The Brooklyn Nets (22-9) and Los Angeles Clippers (17-16) go head-to-head on Monday night at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. PST.
The Clippers are fresh off of a competitive 103-100 loss at the hands of the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Los Angeles is now 5-5 over their past ten contests.
Brooklyn last played on Christmas Day, where they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 122-115. The Nets are 7-3 in their past ten games.
Let’s take a closer look at this cross-conference matchup.
Nets at Clippers Betting Analysis
On the Nets side
Brooklyn will be without Kevin Durant once again in Monday’s contest due to health and safety protocols. However, James Harden and Patty Mills did not face much trouble leading the Nets to the win over the Lakers on Saturday without him.
Harden posted a triple-double with 36 points, ten assists, and ten rebounds, while Mills added 34 points in the victory. The strong performance from the Nets helped showcase why they are a threat to reach the Finals this season.
Even though they were missing a plethora of players, including Kevin Durant, they had enough to play quality basketball and earn a solid road victory.
Brooklyn will be undermanned once again on Monday, but they will remain confident regardless. With depth players such as Nicholas Claxton and Bruce Brown available to help out Harden and Mills, the Nets will have a strong opportunity of making it back-to-back wins in Los Angeles.
On the Clippers side
Speaking of short-handed teams, the Clippers recently announced that Paul George will be out for 3-4 weeks with an injury. The loss of George is brutal as they try to remain in the playoff picture.
Los Angeles just missed defeating the Nuggets on Sunday without George, but they fell just shy in a 103-100 loss. But Eric Bledsoe, Terrance Mann, and Ivica Zubac all played well in the game and displayed that there is hope for the Clippers to remain above water until George returns.
The concerning issue is that Los Angeles already labored in the scoring department before his injury. They are 25th in points per game leading into Monday’s action. That number is destined to drop even further without any true offensive star on the floor.
We will see how the Clippers perform against the Nets on Monday as they learn to play without George for the foreseeable future.
Nets at Clippers Prediction
The Nets are the favorites according to the majority of top sportsbooks. But they are not at full health, and the Clippers could make this game more interesting than one may believe. But in the end, James Harden is a superstar in every sense of the word and should be able to lead his team to victory even without Durant on the floor.
