The 2023-24 NBA regular season has been one to remember, and there have been some big storylines throughout the way. Now is a great time to start to make some predictions on end of year awards, and the MVP race always tends to stand out.
The NBA MVP odds have been out since before the season even started, and those odds have been changing throughout the season. The MVP picture is becoming clearer as the year nears its end. Currently, oddsmakers have listed lines for just three players.
Injuries have shaken up this race throughout the year, and some of the top options are no longer eligible to win it. There are still some great options to choose from, and now is when you should be making those bets.
No Stopping Jokic
When it comes to the NBA MVP odds, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic is the clear betting favorite at -650. This NBA MVP race has been tight for much of the season, but Jokic just has continued to pull away from the rest of the pack.
This would not be the first MVP Award for Jokic, and it actually wouldn’t be his second time winning the award either. There are some great NBA players, but Jokic has proven to be a bigger impact on his team than other players in the league.
Not only does it look like Jokic is going to win the MVP Award, but he has some of the best odds to win NBA Finals MVP as well. Getting to the NBA Finals is obviously the first step for Jokic, but he seems to have his Nuggets team in a great position to get that done.
Two Other Contenders
You should always be looking for value when checking out NBA odds, and there is value in the other two options to win this award. The NBA MVP odds fall off in a big way after Jokic, but the other two players on this list are extremely talented players as well.
Luka Doncic is a player that tends to dictate the action in NBA matchups and he is having the best year of his career with the Dallas Mavericks. He has missed some time throughout the NBA schedule, but he is going to play in enough games to qualify to win the postseason awards.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is another player to watch when betting on this award and he has odds set at +1800 to be named league MVP. Gilgeous-Alexander is the best players on one of the top NBA teams, and he is someone that continues to impress on a nightly basis.
When preseason NBA predictions were made, betting on Gilgeous-Alexander to win the league MVP Award would have been considered a highly unlikely scenario. The Oklahoma City guard’s stellar season continues to propel him into the MVP vote conversation.
Voters Go With Joker
The NBA rankings to win the MVP Award have changed a ton throughout the year, and there were other teams in the mix as well. Joel Embiid and Kevin Durant are two other players who had a shot, but they just didn’t stay healthy enough to be considered.
Voter fatigue is a serious issue at times when it comes to this award, and that could be a reason that Jokic didn’t win the award a season ago. Despite voter fatigue, Jokic’s stellar play makes him the undeniable MVP candidate.
There isn’t a ton of value in betting on Jokic to win the NBA MVP Award, but he’s going to come away with this award. It’s been another career year for the Nuggets center, and he is going to take home some hardware.
- Pick: Jokic -650.
