The San Antoni Spurs (10-17) travel to Utah to take on the red hot Jazz (20-7) on Friday night at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00 P.M. EST.
San Antonio has won six of their past ten games but dropped their most recent affair at home against Charlotte. The Spurs currently rank near the bottom of the Western Conference.
On the other hand, the Jazz have been the hottest team in basketball over the past couple of weeks. Utah is 9-1 over the course of their past ten contests, and they are fresh off of an astounding 124-103 win against the Clippers.
Spurs at Jazz Betting Analysis
On the Spurs side
San Antonio is undeniably in rebuild mode. But they have seen players like Dejounte Murray and Jackob Poeltl flash star potential this season.
Murray leads San Antonio with 17.7 points and 8.4 assists per game. The young guard has demonstrated maturity and poise as the focal point of Gregg Popovich’s offense.
Poeltl has posted 12.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game in the post for the Spurs. He has a high ceiling as an impressive scorer in addition to being a lockdown rim protector.
This duo has the potential to develop into something great down the road.
The Spurs are a respectable 11th in points per game, fourth in field goal percentage, second in assists per game, and seventh in turnovers per contest.
So while nobody is predicting this team to be a playoff contender, San Antonio has the talent to upset good teams on any given night.
On the Jazz side
The Utah Jazz have not only been incredible this season, but they are also probably the most under-appreciated team in the NBA.
They are third in the West behind the juggernauts that are Phoenix and Golden State. Utah is the NBA leader in points per game as well. They also rank fourth in rebounds per game, first in field goal percentage, and third in three-point percentage.
Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and Mike Conley have teamed up to make quite the trio in Utah.
Mitchell has been excellent with 24.8 points and five assists per game. Gobert is averaging 15.3 points, 14.7 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per contest. Conley has posted averages of 13.6 points and 5.4 assists per game.
Adding Conley to the roster was a quality move, as it gave Mitchell and Gobert another star-like player on the roster. He has been vital in helping his teammates get open looks and drawing defensive attention away from Mitchell and Gobert.
The Jazz will look to keep rolling at home against the Spurs.
Spurs at Jazz Prediction
Unsurprisingly, Utah is a heavy favorite, according to the majority of top sportsbooks.
While I like the potential of this Spurs team, I am absolutely locking in the Jazz as my pick for this Friday night affair.
Take the Utah Jazz -11.5.
