Let’s see which team takes the win on this Razorbacks at Rebels betting pick.
Both the #13 Arkansas Razorbacks and the #17 Mississippi Rebels know a thing or two about quality of competition after meetings with #2 Georgia and #1 Alabama last week, respectively. Both lost – of course – and both suffered a reality check in their first defeats of the season.
It’s time to get back at it Saturday in Biloxi, where Ole Miss is a -5.5 favorite. The Rebels hung about as well as you can expect against Alabama (42-21), but the Razorbacks had their doors blown off in a 37-0 loss at Georgia. That type of opponent only makes both teams stronger, so who comes out on top Saturday afternoon?
Can Arkansas Offense Keep Up
What Alabama did last week was show that the Ole Miss offense can be human at times. The Rebels managed just 291 yards of total offense, which is something Arkansas can build on for the Week 6 matchup.
The Razorbacks and Crimson Tide have two completely different talent levels on both sides of the ball, however. Arkansas was just bowled over for 273 yards on the ground from Georgia, dropping Sam Pittman’s team to the 3rd worst rush defense in the SEC.
The good news is also that the Ole Miss defense and the Georgia defense do not compare. Arkansas had just 162 total yards vs. the Bulldogs, but that’s expected, with UGA ranking #1 in the country in total yards, passing yards, and points allowed.
Saturday’s game is a good opportunity for the Razorbacks to get back on track, as they had put up 38+ points in the first three games of the season and were also able to outlast #7 Texas A&M 20-10 in Week 4.
Ole Miss Offense Frustrated
Rebels coach Lane Kiffin is probably going to come into Saturday’s game with a lot of pent-up frustration after Alabama held his team to a season-low 21 points last week. That includes 34 runs for 78 yards and just 213 yards through the air.
Ole Miss QB Matt Corral’s Heisman candidacy took a hit last week, too, as he threw for just 213 yards. Corral had put up 280+ in the three games prior, but on the bright side, he still hasn’t tossed an INT yet this season – throwing 10TD and 1,210 yards.
Arkansas won this matchup 33-21 last season as +1 point home underdogs. Corral was completely overwhelmed in that game, throwing 6 INTs, but Ole Miss stayed somewhat close behind 242 rush yards.
Arkansas at Ole Miss Pick
Both teams got beaten up last week physically, which is why whoever recovers better is probably going to win this game. In that regard, it helps Ole Miss being at home, but -5.5 seems like a lot in this matchup.
The Razorbacks have stood the line against both Texas and Texas A&M this year. Have to give them the benefit of the doubt in this matchup.
The Pick: Arkansas +5.5
