Let’s see which team is the one who takes the win on this Bearcats at Green Wave betting preview.
The second-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats will travel to Yulman Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the Tulane Green Wave in an American Conference matchup. The Bearcats are a perfect 7-0 (3-0) this season and are coming off a 27-20 road win over the Navy Midshipmen. Senior quarterback Desmond Ridder is coming off a decent game as he went 18-of-30 for 176 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. The Green Wave are 1-6 (0-3) so far and are coming off a 55-26 road loss against the 21st-ranked SMU Mustangs. Freshman quarterback Michael Pratt left the game after a head injury but went 11-of-22 for 234 yards with three touchdowns.
Put It In Drive
The Cincinnati Bearcats have been doing well running the football behind the junior running back Jerome Ford. So far this season, he has 117 attempts for 799 yards (6.8 yards per rush) with 13 rushing touchdowns as well as nine catches for 60 yards (6.7 yards per reception). In his last game against the Navy Midshipmen, Ford finished with 15 attempts for 90 yards (6.0 yards per rush) with one rushing touchdown as well as two catches for 11 yards (5.5 yards per reception). If the Bearcats can continue to dominate on the ground, it will do wonders for them.
The Cincinnati Bearcats are an incredible defensive team as they are giving up 14.6 points per game. In their previous game against the Navy Midshipmen, they allowed 20 points on 271 total yards of offense (176 passing, 95 rushing). They need to be better guarding against the opposing rushing attack as the Knights finished with 4.5 yards per rush.
Security Blanket
Junior tight end Tyrick James has been doing well this season for the Tulane Green Wave as he has 23 receptions for 350 yards (15.2 yards per catch) and three touchdowns. In the last game against the SMU Mustangs, James finished with just one reception for seven yards (7.0 yards per catch). If he can bounce-back and continue to get James the ball, it will do wonders for the offense.
The Tulane Green Wave have been struggling this season defensively as they are giving up 42.3 points per game. In their last game against the SMU Mustangs, they allowed 55 points on 612 total yards of offense (438 passing, 174 rushing). The Mustangs were able to convert on big downs as they went 7-of-14 on third down and 2-of-3 on fourth down. The Green Wave needs to be better at stuffing the run as SMU averaged 4.6 yards per rush attempt. If Tulane can figure out how to step up, it will be a good sign against the Bearcats.
Who to Bet on Bearcats at Green Wave
There is a huge difference between Cincinnati and Tulane. The Green Wave could be missing their starting quarterback as Michael Pratt left the game with a head injury and the backups combined to go 0-for-3 last week. Tulane’s defense is atrocious and that means the Bearcats should be able to dominate the time of possession and score the ball multiple times. The Bearcats have covered in four of the last five games against the Green Wave. All in all, go with the Cincinnati Bearcats to cover the spread on the road here.
