Let’s see which team will take the win on this Wolverines at Badgers betting preview.
Michigan comes into this game with a 4-0 record, currently sitting at number 14 in the nation. Wisconsin will be playing their first game after a blowout loss to Notre Dame. These two teams have played 68 times; Michigan leads the series 51-17; however, Wisconsin has won the last two meetings.
The Wolverines Look to Stay Perfect.
Winning the first four games of the season is just how Coach Harbaugh drew it up. They have been flawless and putting up numbers offensively, as well as keeping opposing offenses under wraps. Their last game against Rutgers was the closest game they have played all season, winning by a score of 20-13.
Michigan’s quarterback, Cade McNamara, is off to a good start completing over 60% of his passes for 534 yards and three touchdowns. He has not thrown an interception in 53 pass attempts. The Wolverines have two running backs over 300 yards, Blake Corum and Hassan Haskins. Corum has 475 yards and seven touchdowns, while Haskins has 322 yards and six touchdowns.
This defense has been top-notch as well. Through four games, they are giving up just 11.8 points per game, which is fourth in the nation. Teams have struggled against this secondary, averaging just 171 passing yards per game.
If there was one thing the defense could use more of, it would be turnovers, with only one so far this season.
Short Memory for the Badgers
There were no real positives for Wisconsin this past Saturday when they took on Notre Dame. Wisconsin played them okay for the first half and started the second half alright.
The fourth quarter is when things got bad quickly; Notre Dame scored 31 points in the fourth quarter alone. Fourteen of those points came off of two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.
Graham Mertz has had an up and down season, to say the least. He is completing just over 56% of his passes, with only a single touchdown pass but six interceptions. Chez Mellusi is leading the rushing attack with 319 yards on 69 carries. Danny Davis is the leading receiver with 16 receptions for 193 yards.
The defensive unit for the Badgers looks bad if you just look at the final score. However, when you dive into the stats, they played pretty well on Saturday.
They held Notre Dame to 39 total rushing yards from their running backs. The Badgers will have to continue this level of play against the run if they want to be successful this Saturday.
The Picks
Wisconsin is currently -2, with the points total at 43½.
This is very surprising; Michigan has been dominant to start the season. The only reason the spread may be leaning this way is the fact that Michigan has played their first four games at their home stadium.
This will be Wisconsin’s fourth home game. They are currently 1-2 against the spread.
Take Michigan +2 and over 43½ points.
