Let’s see which team is the one who takes the win on this Wolfpack at Hurricanes betting preview.
The 18th-ranked NC State Wolfpack will travel to Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night to take on the Miami Hurricanes in an ACC matchup. The Wolfpack are 5-1 (2-0) this season and are coming off a 33-7 road win over the Boston College Eagles.
Sophomore quarterback Devin Leary had a good game as he went 16-of-24 for 251 yards with three touchdowns. The Hurricanes went 2-4 (0-2) and are coming off a 45-42 road loss against the North Carolina Tar Heels. Freshman quarterback Tyler Van Dyke struggled as he went 20-of-45 for 264 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions.
Knight and Day
The NC State Wolfpack are a ground-and-pound football team as they are led by sophomore running back Zonovan Knight. He has carried the ball 82 times this season with 503 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and three touchdowns.
He also has eight catches for 51 yards (6.4 yards per reception) in the passing game. Knight had a solid game last week against Boston College as he had 11 carries for 41 yards (3.7 yards per carry) on the ground while adding two catches for 21 yards (10.5 yards per reception). If he can continue to be a threat on the ground and move the chains, it will be a great sign for the team.
The NC State Wolfpack defense has been stepping up this season as they have only allowed 14.3 points per game so far. In their last game against the Boston College Eagles, they gave up seven points on 291 total yards of offense (194 passing, 97 rushing).
They need to continue dominating on third-down as well as they forced the Eagles to go 5-of-16 on third downs and 1-of-4 on fourth down attempts. If they can continue what they are doing, they will be in a great place here.
Run Harris Run
The Miami Hurricanes love to run the football as junior running back Cam’Ron Harris has been effective with 71 carries for 409 yards (5.8 yards per attempt) with five touchdowns this season as well as 11 receptions for 119 yards (10.8 yards per catch) with a receiving touchdown. In his last game against the UNC Tar Heels, he finished with six rushes for 26 yards (4.3 yards per attempt). If Harris can bounce back in this game, it will be great for the program.
The Miami Hurricanes have been struggling defensively so far this year as they are allowing 30 points per game. In their previous game against the North Carolina Tar Heels, they allowed 45 points on 382 total yards of offense (154 passing, 228 rushing).
The defense needs to be better than allowing a little less than 50 percent of the third-down attempts as North Carolina went 7-of-16. They also ran the ball extremely well, as the Tar Heels averaged 4.8 rushing yards per attempt. If Miami can figure out how to stuff opposing running attacks, they will be in a lot better shape here.
Who to Bet
The Miami Hurricanes are on their backup quarterback as D’Eriq King is out for the remainder of the season. However, the NC State Wolfpack have been one of the best teams in the entire nation.
Devin Leary has been dominant as in the last four games, and he has 12 touchdowns without an interception. All in all, the Wolfpack have been incredible so go with them as small road favorites in this game.
