Let’s see which team is the one who takes the win on this Wildcats at Wolverines betting pick.
The Northwestern Wildcats will travel to Michigan Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the sixth-ranked Michigan Wolverines in a Big Ten matchup. The Wildcats are 3-3 (1-2) this season and are coming off a 21-7 home win over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Sophomore quarterback Ryan Hilinski had a good game as he finished going 18-of-33 for 267 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Wolverines are a perfect 6-0 (3-0) so far and are coming off a 32-29 road win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Junior quarterback Cade McNamara did alright as he finished going 22-of-38 for 255 yards and an interception.
Dear Mr. Robinson
The Northwestern Wildcats love to throw the ball, and having someone like senior wide receiver Stephon Robinson Jr helps out. So far this season, he has 28 catches for 424 yards (15.1 yards per reception) with a pair of touchdowns.
In his last game against Rutgers, Robinson finished with five receptions for 115 yards (23 yards per catch). If he can continue doing well and getting open, it will really help the offense get going in a tough matchup.
The Northwestern Wildcats have been a decent defense as they are giving up 23.8 points per game. In their previous game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, they allowed seven points on 222 total yards of offense (159 passing, 63 rushing).
They did great defensively as Rutgers went 5-of-17 on third down and 0-for-2 on fourth down. The Wildcats also stopped the rushing attack as they allowed 1.9 yards per attempt. If they can continue this defense, it will really give them a shot at the upset.
Ground and Pound
The Michigan Wolverines love to run the ball behind sophomore running back Blake Corum. This season, he has 97 rushes for 610 yards (6.3 yards per attempt) with eight touchdowns on the ground and 14 receptions for 102 yards (7.3 yards per catch), and a receiving touchdown.
In their last game against Nebraska, he finished with 13 rushes for 89 yards (6.8 yards per carry) and a rushing touchdown, as well as five receptions for 37 yards (7.3 yards per catch). If he can figure out how to continue dominating on the ground, the Wolverines will remain undefeated.
The Michigan Wolverines are doing well defensively as they are allowing 15.5 points per game this season. In their previous game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, they gave up 29 points on 431 total yards of offense (291 passing, 140 rushing).
The Cornhuskers did not convert much as they went 3-of-11 on third down and 1-of-3 on fourth down. Michigan did a great job as they forced a pair of turnovers (one interception, one fumble recovery). If the Wolverines can improve the surface-level stats, they will be even scarier.
Who Do We Bet?
The Wolverines are undoubtedly the better program in this matchup and should be able to cover. They are 5-1 against the spread, while Northwestern is 2-4 against the spread.
As we highlighted, the defenses are both good, but the offenses are different as the Wildcats are scoring 21.8 points per game while the Wolverines are scoring 38.5 points per game. All in all, go with the Michigan Wolverines -21.5 at home in this game.
