South Carolina State Bulldogs vs. Clemson Tigers Betting Preview
The Bulldogs of South Carolina face a tough test when they head to Clemson to take on the Tigers. After a narrow, one-point loss to Alabama A&M, they look to pull off the upset of the year.
Of course, they come in as heavy underdogs, but Clemson didn’t look good in their first game. What are the chances that South Carolina can cover the spread against Clemson on Saturday?
Clemson lost 10-3 to the Georgia Bulldogs last week. It was a disappointing game all around, but they’ll get the chance to bounce back against SC State. Last week, you could see visual frustration on the Tigers sideline, but we know Clemson has trouble against great defenses. As they head into the second week of the NCAAF betting season, this is the chance to get back on track.
Bulldogs are hoping this doesn’t get too out of hand
Every low-level team like South Carolina State dreads having to face a foe like Clemson. Sure, the Bulldogs were able to score 41 against Alabama A&M, but that isn’t Clemson.
On Saturday, they’ll have to control the ball a lot more to keep the score from becoming unreasonable. Unfortunately, that’s a lot easier said than done.
Last week, quarterback Corey Fields Jr. of the Bulldogs passed for 213 yards. This wouldn’t be such a bad stat had it not been for the 2 interceptions he threw.
By the end of the game, the Bulldogs tallied 455 yards of total offense. The unfortunate part? They allowed Alabama A&M to rack up 569 total yards. Although Clemson’s offense didn’t look good against Georgia, they’re much better than Alabama A&M.
After a disappointing debut, Clemson looks to right the ship
It’s fair to say that the Clemson Tigers need to go undefeated from here on out. The reason why is that the College Football Playoffs likely won’t allow them in if they have two losses.
The Clemson offense, usually a powerhouse, looked soft last week. It seems that the loss of Trevor Lawerence is having more of an effect than we originally thought.
We’re sure that the Tigers are thankful for this game against South Carolina State. This will give them a good chance to boost morale and iron out some offensive kinks.
D.J Uiagalelei, the Clemson QB, will get an opportunity to familiarize himself with the offense better. He finished the game against Georgia with only 178 yards passing.
Before you bet!
Before heading to the sportsbook to make a pick on this game, there are a few things you should know. First, the under is the best bet on the total.
We’ve seen the lack of offense from Clemson, and even if it’s better, they can’t score all the points themselves. We also know that Clemson’s defense limited the Georgia offense to just 10 points.
Secondly, keep the point spread in mind. If the spread goes over fifty points, the safer bet could be the Bulldogs.
The reason is that the Tigers might run out of time, and the Bulldogs will focus on holding the ball. If you keep those factors in mind, you can come up with the right bet between these two.
