Longhorns vs Razorbacks Betting Preview
The Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks meet for the first time this season in a match-up of the Big 12 and SEC.
Old foes meet again as the Arkansas football team is welcoming the Texas Longhorns over the weekend in Fayetteville. The Horns are coming off a solid performance against a top 25 opponent. Arkansas is coming off a sluggish win over Rice, but they only had 370 yards of total offense. The Longhorns come into this as 6.5 point road favorites. Let’s take a look at was we should expect to see in this contest.
Texas Longhorns Preview: Hudson Card fits the mold of star in the making
The Longhorns came away with a big win over Louisiana over the weekend, winning 38-18. While this was a big win for the Longhorns, it’s a game that was a bit overlooked. Louisiana is no slouch this season as they have a great coach and an all-around talented football team.
Texas got the best of their opponent as they won with ease after getting through their shaky first half.
Under new head coach Steve Sarkisian the Longhorns look like a threat. New QB Hudson Card looks like a star in the making. Card was 14/21 with 224 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Bijan Robinson was terrific on the ground as he carried the ball 20 times for 103 yards and one score. This was a big-time win for the Longhorns to start the year as it was against a team flirting with being a top 25 team.
Sarkisian’s defense was all over the place, containing the run and putting a lot of pressure on the quarterback. It will play an Arkansas team that was heavy in penalties despite their win to kick off the season.
Arkansas Razorbacks Preview: Defense was good, but can they do it again
Arkansas is coming off a win to start their new campaign as they beat Rice 38-17. The Razorbacks don’t feature an elite passing game, and that was showcased in the opener. Trailing 17-7 midway through the third quarter, the defense luckily picked up the slack and held the Rice running game in check.
KJ Jefferson is going to be dangerous as he continues to grow. He has a good arm and is great at using his legs to make plays. Up against the Longhorns, he is going to need to be great and help take the load off the defense in this game.
Arkansas held Rice to 81 rushing yards and didn’t allow a gain of more than seven yards. This is going to be a tougher opponent, of course, but this plays into how good is Card going to be to win this game.
These two teams have met 78 total times, with the Longhorns holding a huge margin in the win/loss column 56-22. The last time these two teams met, the Razorback came away with a 31-7 win in the Texas Bowl. Prior to the meeting, the Longhorns held a 14 game winning streak, but that came to an end. 7 years later, the Longhorns and Razorbacks meet again in what should be an entertaining game with lots of offense.
