Texas Longhorns vs. Baylor Bears Analysis
Steve Sarkisian has his Texas Longhorns looking good to start the season. The win over Alabama sent the program to a new level, as the Horns see themselves ranking three in the Associated Press Top 25. The Longhorns have a tough stretch of games upcoming, as they host the unbeaten Kansas Jayhawks next week, and then the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma takes place.
The Longhorns are led by Quinn Ewers, with his 740 passing yards and eight touchdowns. Xavier Worthy has been his top target thus far, with 16 receptions and two touchdowns. The Longhorns are 49th in passing yards on the season and 76th in rushing yards. Texas is one of five unbeaten teams remaining in the Big 12.
Baylor’s Test of Resilience
The home Baylor Bears are going to have to figure it out quickly, as the Texas Longhorns are going to come into town ready to play. The Bears lost their starting quarterback, Blake Shapen, late in the first game. Since then, Sawyer Robertson has come in and struggled big time. Robertson has completed just 45.2% of his passes for 444 yards but just one touchdown and three interceptions.
Ketron Jackson Jr. is the leading receiver for the Bears with 168 yards in three games. He does not have a touchdown on the season. Drake Dabney, the tight end, has three touchdowns. The Baylor Bears run game has seen three guys get a load of carries. Dominic Richardson, Richard Reese, and Dawson Pendergrass all have over 100 yards, and all but Richardson has gotten into the end zone.
Following this game, the Baylor Bears schedule shows they will travel to Orlando to take on the Central Florida Knights. There is no doubt both these teams have great College Football players, but one team seems to have more talent than the other.
