Bears at Lions Betting Preview
Chicago Bears Preview: To the Mooney
Wide receiver Darnell Mooney has been playing well this season as he has 36 catches on 59 targets for 450 yards (12.5 yards per reception) with two touchdowns through the air and two rushes for 25 yards (12.5 yards per attempt) with a rushing touchdown as well. In his last game against the Ravens, he finished with five receptions on 16 targets for 121 yards (24.2 yards per catch) with a receiving touchdown.
The Chicago Bears have been a decent defensive team this season as they are allowing 24 points per game. In their previous game against the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago gave up 16 points on 299 total yards of offense (176 passing, 123 rushing). The Bears did a great job at allowing 3.9 yards per play during the game. They need to stop allowing the offense to move the chains as they allowed Baltimore to go 7-of-16 on third down attempts and converted their only fourth down attempt.
Detroit Lions Preview: Young and Swift
Running back D’Andre Swift has been playing extremely well this season as he has recorded 123 rushes for 419 yards (3.4 yards per carry) with three rushing touchdowns and 50 catches for 420 yards (8.4 yards per reception) with a pair of touchdown receptions. In his last game against the Browns, Swift finished with 14 rushing attempts for 136 yards (9.7 yards per carry) with a rushing touchdown and three receptions without a yard.
The Detroit Lions have been struggling a bit defensively as they are giving up 27.3 points per game. In their previous game against the Cleveland Browns, Detroit allowed 13 points on 349 total yards of offense (165 passing, 184 rushing). The Detroit Lions struggled to defend the run as the Browns averaged 5.1 rushing yards per attempt. The defense needs to apply more pressure as they only recorded one sack in the game.
Who to Bet on Bears at Lions
The top sportsbooks in America are listing the Chicago Bears as a little over a field goal favorite despite being the road team. The starting quarterbacks for both teams (Justin Fields and Jared Goff) are dealing with injuries so it will be interesting to monitor their health for this game on a short week. However, the Bears have already defeated the Lions 24-14 back in Week 4 so they have a game script of how to defeat this team. David Montgomery has proven to be a beast on the ground and with the emergence of Khalil Herbert as a backup running back, Detroit is going to have a tough time defending. All in all, go with the Chicago Bears to cover on the road here.
