Devils at Senators Betting Analysis
Devils Betting Analysis
The Devils could not have planned the All-Star break any better. A team that needed to get away from the game for a little while as things were moving down a terrible path quickly. Losing six in a row, the Devils were outscored 11-26 in those six games.
The Devils were playing catchup almost all six of those games as well, losing points in all six as they were unable to get any of the six to overtime to try and recoup at least a single point.
Jesper Bratt is the only player for the Devils that is having a solid season. He is leading the team in total points, with 41 goals, with 17, and assists with 24. Bratt is the only player on the Devils roster that has surpassed even 30 total points this season.
Jack Hughes is the next closest with 27, but a positive COVID test has Hughes sidelined for a period of time while he awaits a negative test result.
Senators Betting Analysis
Off to a rather dismal start, the Senators were unable to get anything going throughout the first half of the season. A winning streak of three games is the most wins the team has been able to put together the entire season. Pair that with two six-game losing streaks, and that is how the Senators have fallen to the bottom of the NHL.
The Senators are 37 points behind the Panthers, a number that is almost insurmountable, but they are professional athletes, so they will do their best to try to gain some ground and work themselves back into the mix.
Drake Batherson was on pace to be the offensive leader for the Senators this season. An ankle injury is going to cause him to be out for most of February and March, which could ultimately be the final straw for the Senators.
Brady Tkachuk is having a solid year with 30 overall points. He is currently on pace for his career-high in points as well as assists.
Team Updates
Both teams are dealing with major injuries that have truly affected their everyday play. The Devils have their top two goaltenders on their injury report with bleak hopes of either of them returning the rest of the season.
The loss of Batherson for the Senators, as well as Josh Norris, will be extremely tough to recoup those offensive numbers. This could be a big win for either team as both are desperate to get things going in the right direction.
- The Devils won one of their last ten games prior to the All-Star break.
- New Jersey was under the total points in five of their last ten games.
- The Senators won four of their last ten games prior to the All-Star break.
- Ottawa is on a seven-game under streak for total goals.
Devils vs. Senators Betting Preview
With the Devils’ main goaltenders out with injuries, they have turned those responsibilities over to Jon Gillies and Akira Schmid. Gillies currently has a 1-6-1 record and is giving up 6.33 goals per game.
Schmid has an 0-4 record and is giving up 4.83 goals per game. It does not matter how bad the offense is if they are constantly trying to play catchup, especially if it is to five or more goals.
The Senators have Anton Forsberg as their main goaltender with a 7-8-1 record. He is giving up 3.02 goals per game.
When Forsberg needs a break, the Senators will send out Matt Murray. The two-time Stanley Cup Champion has struggled this season with a 4-6-1 record and is giving up 2.88 goals per game.
While the Senators’ offense may seem bleak, the one thing they do have the upper hand on is their goaltending. The Devils have also had major struggles on the road; with a 5-14-1-1 record, this game could get out of hand quickly.
