Year after year, it becomes more obvious that the NFL is an offense-driven league. The NFL betting odds favor the clubs with the elite quarterbacks and dynamic pass catchers instead of the teams that prioritize defense. And sure enough, the Super Bowl champs almost always finish the season as one of the league’s highest scorers.
One of the basics of how to bet on football is taking a high-octane offense to secure the victory. So with the 2021 season fast approaching, here’s a ranking of the top offensive teams in football to help provide some essential NFL betting tips.
NFL Offensive Power Rankings
1. Buffalo Bills
Even though the Bills suffered the loss of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, they boast the best offense of anyone in football. Led by star quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Buffalo finished last season ranked inside the top five for points and yards. There’s no reason that shouldn’t continue in 2022.
2. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals managed to make it all the way to the Super Bowl thanks to the performances of young stars Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. But beyond that QB-WR duo, Cincinnati also has an elite running back in Joe Mixon and an overhauled offensive line. On paper, this should easily be one of the NFL’s best point-scoring clubs.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Thank goodness Tom Brady called off his retirement. The ageless wonder threw for more passing yards than anyone last year and still has weapons like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Russell Gage surrounding him. As one of two 30-point scorers from last season, there’s a good chance the Bucs will repeat that feat in the fall.
4. Los Angeles Chargers
Even though the Chargers narrowly missed out on a playoff berth last season, it doesn’t mean their offense isn’t superb. LA returns quarterback Justin Herbert, backfield threat Austin Ekeler, and receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams in its quest to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
5. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs would’ve likely topped this list if they didn’t trade unstoppable speedster Tyreek Hill. That said, KC still deserves a top-five spot thanks to Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, two of the very best to ever do it at their respective positions. With offensive guru Andy Reid still in charge, the Chiefs should find plenty of ways to light up the scoreboard.
6. Los Angeles Rams
Even though the defending Super Bowl champions have several big-name stars on defense, they can certainly run up the score on the offensive end. Matthew Stafford will return once again to the league-leading receiver Cooper Kupp, while Allen Robinson enters the fold as one of the league’s top No. 2 wideouts.
7. Dallas Cowboys
No team averaged more yards and points per game than the Cowboys last season. This year, they lose Amari Cooper but retain Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup, among others. Depending on its spotty offensive line, Dallas’ offense should be pretty strong once again.
8. Green Bay Packers
Trading Davante Adams, one of the top three receivers in football, certainly hurts the Packers’ overall offense. But no other team has back-to-back MVP Aaron Rodgers behind center. Rodgers should still be able to make the most of his receiving core while allowing Aaron Jones to thrive in the backfield.
9. Arizona Cardinals
DeAndre Hopkins is facing a six-game PED suspension, which certainly hurts the Cardinals’ offense as a whole. But when he returns, he’ll join a unit featuring the impressive Kyler Murray at QB, James Conner at RB, and new acquisition Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in the other receiver spot.
10.Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are admittedly hurt by having the inconsistent Kirk Cousins at quarterback. But few teams boast an RB/WR group as impressive as the one Minnesota has in Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen. When healthy, those three players are legitimate stars that make this offense extremely dangerous.
11. New Orleans Saints
There are a couple of significant x-factors that could make the Saints’ good offense even better. First, Jameis Winston must show he can be a consistent starter. And second, Michael Thomas has to bounce back following a lost season. If those two and running back Alvin Kamara show up, New Orleans can be lethal.
12. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, two of the most dynamic receivers in the game. They have a collection of solid running backs headlined by Chase Edmonds. And they have an above-average tight end in Mike Gesicki. Miami just needs Tua Tagovailoa to live up to his potential before this offense takes off.
