The Washington Football Team will travel to Empower Field and Mile High on Sunday afternoon to take on the Denver Broncos in a Week 8 matchup. The Football Team is second in the NFC East with a 2-5 record and is coming off a 24-10 home-road loss to the Green Bay Packers. Taylor Heinicke finished going 25-of-37 for 268 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Broncos are last in the AFC West with a 3-4 record and are coming off a 17-14 road loss on Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns. Case Keenum started and finished going 21-of-33 for 199 yards and a touchdown.
Put It In Reverse, Terry
The Washington Football Team is dealing with the mediocre quarterback play, but wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been putting up good numbers. So far this season, he has 40 catches for 550 yards (13.8 yards per receptions) with four touchdowns. In his previous game against the Packers, McLaurin finished with seven receptions on 12 targets for 122 yards (17.4 yards per catch) and a touchdown. If he can continue carrying momentum, it will be a hard time for the Denver defense.
The Washington Football Team has been disappointing defensively as they are giving up 30 points per game. In their previous game against the Green Bay Packers, they allowed 24 points on 304 total yards of offense (247 passing, 57 rushings). The Washington defense needs to improve as the Packers went 6-of-12 on third down and a fourth-down conversion on their only attempt. They need to get better at stopping on rushing attempts as they went 3.8 rushing yards per attempt. If they can figure out how to get stops, they will be in a better spot to win.
Sitting on Sutton
The Denver Broncos have been doing decent offensively with the help of wide receiver Courtland Sutton. He has recorded 38 receptions for 539 yards (14.2 yards per catch) with touchdowns. In his last game against the Cleveland Browns, Sutton has five catches on five targets for 68 yards (13.6 yards per reception). If he can have help with Jerry Jeudy probably returning, it will be a good sign.
The Denver Broncos have been a solid defensive team as they are giving up 18.1 points per game. In his previous game against the Cleveland Browns, they allowed 17 points on 376 total yards of offense (194 passing, 182 rushings). They need to step up as they went 9-of-15 on third down and converted their only fourth-down attempt. They need to be better than 5.6 yards per attempt. If they can get a few stops here, it will be a solid chance to win here.
Who to Bet
With wide receiver Jerry Jeudy returning in this game, it will add another weapon for the Denver Broncos offense to deal with. Taylor Heinicke has struggled as he threw six interceptions in his last five games, including at least one pick in four of those games. Teddy Bridgewater has thrown eight touchdowns in the previous four games. The defense has been a significant separator, too, as WFT is giving up 30 points per game while Denver is at 18.1 points allowed. The Washington Football Team has failed to cover the spread as they are 1-6 against the spread this season. All in all, go with the Denver Broncos to cover the spread at home.
