Avalanche at Flyers Betting Analysis
On the Avalanche side
Colorado is off to a rocky 1-2 start in December. But overall, the team has played well in 2021 for the most part.
The Avalanche is led by an outstanding scoring attack. They rank fourth in the NHL with 84 total goals. Leading the way from a player standpoint is Cale Makar with 10 goals.
Nazem Kadri has been in the middle of almost every play en route to an astounding 21 assists on the season. His playmaking ability has led Colorado to a fourth overall ranking in total assists with 144.
The issues for the team have arisen on defense. The Avalanche have allowed 71 goals which ranks 20th in the NHL. If they could add a few pieces to tighten up their loose ends of defense Colorado would be an incredibly intimidating team.
One final note is that the Avalanche are currently dealing with a myriad of injuries. Both Makar and Kadri both missed Saturday’s game and they are questionable for Monday.
On the Flyers Side
The Flyers have truly labored on offense. They rank 29th in total goals with only 50 for the campaign. However, they have been solid at limiting opponents in the scoring department, as they rank 12th in goals allowed.
Goalie Carter Hart has comprised a 5-6 record with a .919 save percentage to go along with a 2.70 GAA. Offensively, Cam Atkinson leads Philadelphia with 7 goals.
On paper, the Avalanche would typically be the easy favorites for this matchup. But if their stars are unable to suit up the Flyers could steal a victory at home. The Flyers have been better on their home ice with a 5-5-1 record.
Avalanche at Flyers Prediction
According to the majority of top sportsbooks, the Avalanche are 1.5-point favorites for Monday’s affair. Despite Colorado’s struggles on defense this season, they are going up against a weak Flyer offense so that should not factor too much into the outcome of this game.
If Kadri and Makar are available Colorado will likely cruise to a win. If not, this is still a solid team capable of playing quality hockey.
The Avalanche should do enough to come out on top on Monday night.
Take Colorado -1.5.
