The Detroit Red Wings (10-9-3) travel to Boston for a matchup against the Bruins (11-7) on Tuesday night. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 P.M. EST at the TD Garden in Boston, MA.
The Bruins last played on Sunday, where they defeated the Canucks 3-2. The Red Wings recently defeated the Sabres 3-2 as well on Saturday.
These two teams are both coming off of victories and will look to keep up their winning ways on Tuesday.
Red Wings at Bruins Betting Analysis
On the Detroit Red Wings side
Despite winning two games in a row, Detroit has been fairly mediocre in 2021. They place fourth overall in the Atlantic division with their 10-9-3 record.
Dylan Larkin leads Detroit with ten goals. The talented Larkin has also added nine assists and 19 total points. He is in his seventh season in the league and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Moritz Seider is the team leader in assists with 9 to his credit. Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic has posted a 6-3 record with a .918 save percentage.
Detroit ranks 17th in goals for, 12th in assists, and 15th in shooting percentage. To sum up those statistics, the offense has been right in the middle of the pack in terms of overall production.
However, they rank just 26th in goals allowed. If Detroit wants to make a true postseason run, their defense will need to step up.
On the Boston Bruins side
Boston leads the season series between these two teams 1-0. They rank fifth in the Atlantic division and are just 1 point behind Detroit in the standings.
For the Bruins, Patrice Bergeron has been a model of consistency. He leads the team with eight goals and also has amassed ten assists. Bergeon has accumulated a plus-minus of 4 and is seemingly in the middle of every scoring play.
David Pastrnak has been impressive as well. Pastrnak leads Boston with 11 assists and also has seven goals to his credit. Bruins’ goalie Jeremy Swayman is 6-4 in 2021 with a .908 save percentage.
The Bruins have stood out on the defensive end. They are ranked 4th in goals allowed with just 51. However, they are in the bottom half of the league in goals for and assists despite the strong offensive performances of Bergeron and Pastrnak.
So while Detroit needs to figure things out on the defensive side, Boston would benefit from an uptick in offense.
Red Wings at Bruins Prediction
The story of this game is offense vs defense. However, Detroit has a decent offense and questionable defense, while the Bruins are one of the best teams in the league at limiting opposing offenses.
Top sportsbooks generally have the Bruins listed anywhere from 1-2.5 point favorites.
As long as they are able to score just enough, Boston’s defense will take care of the rest. I like the Bruins to earn the victory at home in this game. However, expect a hard-fought battle between these two Atlantic rivals.
Take the Boston Bruins -1.5.
