The Las Vegas Golden Knights will travel to Los Angeles for their first game of the 2022-2023 NHL season. The anticipation for this matchup is immense as fans can’t wait for the puck drop come Monday night. The Knights had a very good pre-season as they had a 4-2-1 record, while the Kings did okay and went 3-3-1. This exciting divisional matchup will take place at 10:00 PM ET at the Crypto.com arena. The Kings and Knights played each other twice in pre pre-season and they split the series 1-1. This will be a very exciting NHL matchup on Monday night.
Las Vegas Golden Knights at Los Angeles Kings
Las Vegas Golden Knights Betting Stats
The Las Vegas Golden Knights are coming off of a very solid pre-season as they look to bounce back from their disappointing season last year. The Knights, who were struck with NHL injuries all season long, failed to make the playoffs last season for the first time in team history. The Knights are coming in with a vengeance to this NHL season as they try to find themselves back in the playoffs come the spring. The Knights are led up front by forwards Mark Stone and Jack Eichel. Eichel came to the Knights at the trade deadline and made an immediate impact in the lineup.
He had successful neck surgery last December, and this being his first whole, healthy year with the Knights, I expect big things out of him. Stone will be wearing the C for the Knights this season, and he will look to bounce back from a tough season last year. Stone was injured in the second half of the season and missed a majority of the Knights games. In the net for the Knights will be Logan Thompson. Thompson was the backup last season, but he was named the starter for the Knights for this season.
Los Angeles Kings Betting Stats
The Los Angeles Kings are coming off of an extreme average pre-season. The Kings went 3-3-1 and split their series with the Knights. The team had a very solid season last year but fell short in the first round of the playoffs as they lost to the Edmonton Oilers. The Kings returned many of their players and added a very solid forward from Minnesota, Kevin Fiala. Anze Kopitar led the Kings stats last year, and I would not be surprised if he did it again this season. On the back end the team is led by a veteran two-time Stanley Cup champion Drew Doughty. In the net, former Vezina Trophy winner Jonathan Quick.
The Los Angeles Kings did lose long-time captain Dustin Brown this off season as he retired after a very successful career, but I do believe the Kings will be a playoff caliber team yet again this season. The Pacific division is a very deep and loaded division this season, and it is going to be very important for the Kings to start the season off on the right foot after a very average pre-season.
Matchup Betting Trends
For the betting trends, neither the Kings nor the Knights have played a game yet in the 2022-2023 NHL season, but the Knights scored a lot of goals in the pre-season, while the Kings did not let up many goals.
Matchup “Predictions,” “Picks” or “Who to Bet”
The Kings are the underdogs at home in this contest with +115 odds, while the Knights are the favorite listed at -105. The under/over is set at six goals and the under is the slight favorite. My golden pick for this matchup is the Golden Knights moneyline.
Conclusion
I believe the Golden Knights will win this matchup. The Knights are carrying a lot of momentum into this matchup after a very solid pre-season, and I do not think the Kings defense will be able to slow the Knights down. This will be a very exciting matchup on the NHL schedule on Monday night.
