Miami Open Players To Watch

Anybody that’s ever looked at tennis odds to make any Miami Open prediction knows that the game can be highly unpredictable.

While the star players on the men’s side can more often than not hold their own, the women’s game usually features a lot more balance. Star players come up the ranks from time to time, but anything can happen on any given day. It’s what makes the game so exciting.

As for our Miami Open prediction, plenty of names are out here hoping to score tour points. There is going to be nonstop action from now until the time it ends, and there is a lot to get to. So, buckle up and make a tennis prediction as we preview some of the key names to watch.

The Past Winners

You always have to start with picking a present favorite by looking at past results. The Miami Open odds aren’t too much different now than they were a season ago, and that’s for good measure.

Carlos Alcaraz

A lot of folks may have had eyes on Carlos Alcaraz, as they should. He’s been hot and just came away with the title at Indian Wells by taking out Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. He’s been hard to stop this year, and it’s no wonder he’s sitting at the top.

He won the event a season ago and will be hoping to go back-to-back. Since 2016, there have been five winners in Miami, and only Roger Federer was able to repeat.

Novak Djokovic has one, as do John Isner and Hubert Hurkacz. Alcaraz is only getting better, though, as we go, so he may have a serious chance at claiming another title for his resume today.

Iga Swiatek

Another Miami Open prediction has to be on Iga Swiatek. She became the first woman not named Ashleigh Barty to win the event last year after Barty had claimed victories in both 2019 and 2021.

She also retired early at the young age of 25, so there was always going to be a new winner, anyway. Swiatek won this event last season and, like Alcaraz, has ascended to the top rather quickly.

She had a long unbeaten streak which resulted in Grand Slam success as well, and it looks like she is here to stay. The next great unstoppable player on the women’s side has arrived.

Sloane Stephens won in Miami in 2018, while Johanna Konta came away successful in 2017.

Victoria Azarenka was the 2016 champ. All of this in mind, it just goes to show that things change quickly. The tournament is going to be a raging success, so make sure to stay locked in for it.

Projecting The Favorites

Novak Djokovic & Carlos Alcaraz

A proper Miami Open prediction has to have both Alcaraz and Djokovic included. The two of them are the cream of the crop on the Men’s side, with Roger Federer retiring and Rafael Nadal still working back from injuries.

Novak was able to outlast both of them physically, and it looks like he will be able to usurp them in terms of Grand Slam titles. The focus now, though, is on Miami, where one of these two will have a good chance of earning it.

Daniil Medvedev & Hubert Hurkacz

Hurkacz can’t be discounted as he is just two years away from winning, while Daniil Medvedev could be a top candidate if he can overcome the recent defeat to Alcaraz in California.

The men’s game is loaded with players trying to earn the title here, and if they can get a favorable draw on the Miami Open schedule, perhaps that dream can come true.

Iga Swiatek

Swiatek has to be the favorite on the other side. She’s tough to take your eyes off of when she’s on the court and is ready to continue making noise. Her last 16 months have been as impressive as that of any other player in the timeframe, and she is continuing to get even better.

Jessica Pegula & Carolina Garcia

Jessica Pegula, who has worked her way up to No.3 in the rankings, has a real shot here. She’s been repping the United States very well as her climb to the top continues. Behind her is Carolina Garcia, who has looked great as well. If she can play her best game, she’ll be in line to compete for the title.

Make sure to stay locked in for the Miami Open.
