Top Half of Bracket Prediction
The top half of the draw is looking good for Ruud. He is looking to become the first and only two-time winner of the Millennium Open Estoril. The top seed in the tournament has the shortest Millennium Estoril Open odds and has been in decent form as of late. His tennis stats for the year include reaching the quarter-finals at Indian Wells and the final at the Mexican Open and Los Cabos Open. His improved play on hard courts should only improve his confidence on clay, where he has a career-winning percentage of 68.
Davidovich Fokina, the fourth seed, withdrew from the tournament, while Kecmanovic, a former finalist, was eliminated after losing in straight sets to Roberto Bautista Agut on Monday. Ruud will play the winner of Federico Coria and Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round. Others in the top half of the bracket include Monfils, Thiem, and lucky loser Gasquet, who took Davidovich Fokina’s spot.
Bottom Half of Bracket Prediction
The lower half of the bracket is a bit more unpredictable. However, Hubert Hurkacz is the top seed there and should be favored. He has an easy path to the semi-finals with three qualifiers in his quarter of the bracket. However, Arthur Fils is also a strong candidate to win the bottom half of the bracket.
Fils, the fifth seed, is a talented 19-year-old French player believed to be on the cusp of taking the next step in his development. He didn’t play particularly well in Miami or at Indian Wells, but was a semi-finalist at the ASB Classic and Hong Kong Open in January. He was 37-23 on clay in 2023 and 2022 combined. Cristian Garin, Nuno Borges, and Constant Lestienne are among the other players in the bottom half of the bracket.
Finals Prediction
As boring of a pick as it is to pick the betting favorite in Millennium Estoril Open odds, it’s tough to see Rudd letting another opportunity at winning his first title of the season pass by. He lost in two hard-court finals and is a better clay-court player on the the scores and odds. His record against his potential rivals is strong and should help him build momentum for the French Open. He finished runner-up in 2023 and 2022.
- Pick: Ruud def. Fils
