Genoa Cricket and Football Club, commonly referred to as Genoa, is a professional football club based in Genoa, Liguria, Italy. The club competes in Serie A, the top division of Italian football. Genoa is the oldest professional football club in Italy, having been founded in 1893. The club has won nine Serie A titles, the last in 1924. Genoa has also won the Coppa Italia twice, in 1937 and 1940.
Genoa’s home ground is the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, which has a capacity of 36,599. The club’s most famous player is Roberto Pruzzo, who scored 209 goals for Genoa in 377 appearances. Pruzzo is also the club’s all-time top scorer.
Entering to Serie A Team Records
Genoa has spent most of its history in Serie A, having only been relegated to Serie B on seven occasions. The club’s best finish in Serie A was in 1924, when it won the title.
Genoa has also had some success in European competition. The club reached the final of the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1992, where it lost to Parma.
