Current Squad / Roster

Serbia is also one of the National teams in South East Europe that will be present at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Serbia’s world cup was sealed when they won their last game in the qualifying stage. The match was against Portugal; in the 90th minute, Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the winning goal leaving Cristiano Ronaldo and his Portugal teammates stunned in a 2-1 win for the Serbia team in Lisbon.

During the game, Portugal dominated possession over Serbia when Renato Sanches Scored the opening goal after two minutes of the game. Still, Serbia’s Dusan Tadic kept Serbia in the match after his equalizer in the 33rd minute.

After the match against Portugal, automatic qualification was given to Serbia, which made them secure a spot in the FIFA World Cup 2022. Although Portugal also qualified afterward.

They have appeared in the tournament three times, in 2006, 2010, and 2018 FIFA World Cup, and they have played as an independent country. However, they will again appear at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, in which they are in Group G alongside Brazil, Cameroon, and Switzerland. We hope to see them advance through the FIFA group this time.

Serbia FIFA World Cup Future Odds

Serbia’s stats put them in the 25th position on the FIFA World Cup Rankings. Their futures FIFA World Cup odds of winning the tournament is +11000, which is a big one for them to counter, but there is luck in every football game, and I believe the Serbia team can do what they did against Portugal in their Qualifying stage.

Also, their betting odds of winning one of the FIFA World Cup Groups is +800, which is potentially possible to beat. For them to advance out of the Group G stage is +125. Let’s see what the team will do when the tournament starts.

FIFA World Cup Championships Serbia's Record

Serbia started playing as an independent Country in FIFA World Cup records from 2006 till date. Between the 1930 and 1938 FIFA World Cup, Serbia was part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Also, from the 1950 to 1990 FIFA World Cup, they were part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, where they competed in the tournament.

However, there has been no improvement since they have been participating in the FIFA World Cup according to their records but since they have been playing independently since 2006, let’s see if they will have a good record this time round. And if their FIFA World Cup betting stats would improve.

Historical Events

Serbia’s national team played its first international match in 1920. The Serbia national team existed between two world wars. A kingdom that consisted of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes was founded in Zagreb in 1919, and they were admitted into FIFA. Serbia’s national team played their first international game at the Summer Olympics in Antwerp in 1920.

They participated in the 1930 World Cup, but then they belonged to Yugoslavia and finished in fourth place. Serbia marked its independence with a 3-1 victory against the Czech Republic.

Serbia’s world cup team participated in 2006, 2010, and the last FIFA World Cup tournament, but they have failed to progress from the FIFA Groups on all occasions. Now that they will be at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and their odds to advance out of the group stage can be beaten, we will see the outcome.

Serbia may not have performed well in their previous World Cups. Still, they have some legendary players in the past, they include Dragan Stojkovic, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Dejan Stankovic, Rajko Mitic, Blagoje Marjanovic, Nemanja Vidic, Velibor Vasovic, Todor Veselinovic, Vladimir Beara, Dragoslav Sekularac and so on.

Serbia’s Fun Facts in the Previous World Cups

Serbia’s fun facts in the previous World Cups began when they became independent and started playing World Cups without a joint party from 2006 till date as they have been part of Yugoslavia. An exciting moment for them was when they beat Portugal to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Expected FIFA World Cup Team Roster

FIFA should expect a team that played in Serbia’s qualifying stage, most especially the team that played against Portugal, to secure a spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will be held in Qatar.

World Cup Schedule

Serbia will also be in Qatar at the FIFA World Cup tournament, and their group games kickstart their FIFA World Cup schedule. Since they are in Group G, they are facing Brazil, one of the top five contenders, to win the title on the 24th of November.

You can start engaging in Serbia betting from the game against Brazil. Then, they will play against Cameroon for their second game on the 28th of November, while their last match will be against Switzerland on the 2nd of December. As it is known, every team has to win two games to advance through the FIFA groups, so the Serbia team also needs that.
