Current Squad / Roster

South Korea’s world cup team is among the teams from Asia going to Qatar. They played their last qualifying game against Syria by two goals to nil. The game was played in Dubai, making South Korea qualify for their tenth straight World Cup appearance.

Their victory was against the bottom team in Asia Group A qualifying games. Thanks to Kim Jin- Su and Kwon Chang-Hoon, who scored the second-half goal and gave the Korean’s a chance to secure a spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and were the 15th national team to qualify.

The Koreans made their first appearance in 1954, and one of their best performances was in the 2002 tournament. When Japan co-hosted the cup, they finished in fourth place, making them the first team to reach the semi-finals outside the Americas and Europe.

However, they will also participate in the 2022 World Cup and help in Qatar; let’s see how far they can go this time and if they will be able to make it out of the FIFA World Cup groups.

South Korea FIFA World Cup Future Odds

An opportunity has arisen for fans who participate in football betting. As the FIFA World Cup is around the corner, now is the best time for people to bet on their favorites. South Korean Odds of winning the title are +25000, which is high to bet on.

Also, their FIFA World Cup odds of winning Group H are +1100 and are the lowest odds in their group. You can also pick other betting options, winning either half of a match, over 1.5 goals, most scoring halves, and many more.

FIFA World Cup South Korea's Record

South Korea’s FIFA World Cup betting stats had shown that they had appeared ten times, and their very first time was when they made their debut in 1954. They are one of the most successful Asian football teams, and their appearance is the most of any Asian Country.

Historical Events

One of the historical events of South Korea in FIFA World Cup history was when the competition was hosted for the first time outside Europe or the Americas. It happened in 2002 when it was shared by two nations, South Korea and Japan.

The reason for that was the fears over security following the attacks that happened on September 11, a year before. The tournament passed without any issues, and there was a restricted rule on where the games were played.

South Korea has done well in their previous World Cups. One of them was when they denied the defending Champion, Germany, from advancing to the round of 16. It was shocking news at the 2018 World Cup when South Korea beat Germany in the Group stage, and they qualified for the next stage.

However, the Koreans will participate again in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and we expect their team to perform more than their last appearance.

There has been no national senior football team that doesn’t have any historical players since they began playing football. Historical players of South Africa include Cha Bum-Kun, Park Ji- sung, Hong Myung-bo, Lee Woon-Jae, Lee Young Pyo, and many more.

South Korea Fun Facts In Previous World Cups

Interestingly, the USA has come up against Iran and England in previous editions of the competition. The USA is yet to beat Iran, but they do boast an unbeaten record against England. They famously caused one of the biggest World Cup upsets in history by beating the Three Lions 1-0 in 1950 before battling to a 1-1 draw at the 2010 World Cup.

The USA’s run in the 2014 World Cup made worldwide headlines due to one man- Tim Howard. The former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper set a World Cup record for the most saves in a single match in the USA’s defeat after extra time against Belgium in the round of 16, as he saved 15 shots. His performance saw the hashtag ‘#ThingsTimHowardCouldSave’ trend on Twitter for days after USA’s exit from the competition.
